If you like hot beverages there is a use for it anywhere. It ensures that my last drink of tea/coffee/hot chocolate is the same temperature as my first drink. I love my ember!

Unless you live in death valley and only drink coffee outdoors in the middle of the summer then there is always a place for it... anywhere. What an odd thing to say.

I have had a couple different brands of temperature mugs, and the Ember does the best job at not burning the coffee. That said, ideally you should consume within an hour or else the flavor of the coffee will begin to change.

The top layer does get charred. Otherwise fine. Only issue for me is the battery. This is my 3rd one in 3 years. I use it daily. I can keep it on the coaster while drinking fine. I wanna try this one for travel….

Maybe CA is Canada? I heard it can get chilly there. Honestly, still not clear if they didn't try it in the summer or winter though.

Got it last time when it was $80. The reviews about it disconnecting after each use on Android is true. Most of the time, I just use it at 130F without connecting it to my phone, so it doesn't matter. But the app is truly terrible and constantly logs me out, and (separately) I have to go into the phone's Bluetooth settings to remove the mug and re-pair it.

Purists - and we all have one of those friends with his nose in the air - will tell you yes. Those of us who just want to drink our hot beverage over an hour or more of casual sipping in between the distractions of messaging, emails, and other digital noise will not notice or mind.
