This literally is new..... Came out like 2 months ago.
Stop supporting them. Get a 9070 or rx7900. No difference on gaming
This thing is a beast. Worth buying for anyone doing a new AM5 build.

Should I get this or wait for 9950x3d for mini-ITX build?
What is your planned use case? Gaming, media, productivity, servers?

What's your budget, what will you use it for etc. Expect the 9950x3d to be at least $300 more.

And as suspected, I just got an email cancellation. ..."The Seller is no longer active on Amazon.. so we've cancelled your order"
So, it wasn't sold by Amazon. It was one of those phantom Chinese sellers.

I agree here, for only gaming I'd have a 7900 XT or XTX. Ray tracing is an unnecessary Nvidia gimmick that even slows down top of the line Nvidia hardware.

As crazy as it is, AMD frame generation works with 3000 series Nvidia GPUs, and Nvidia DLSS only works with 4000 series and above - tells you Nvidia has been taking lessons from Apple on how to rip off their customers with planned obsolescence. (plus the paltry VRAM numbers - another lesson learned from Apple)

Only justification for paying the Nvidia tax is AI workloads and specific use cases that require Nvidia hardware. Otherwise AMD is the way for pure gaming.

I currently have a 9800x3d system built w/o a GPU. I'm waiting for nvidia to disappoint me with their 5000 series announcement this week so I can give them money anyway because I dug this hole already.
Same altho I have a XFX 7800xt Merc 319 to hold me off currently

No one can convince me 480.00 is a good price JUST for this CPU . I stopped gaming a couple years ago and do mostly productivity work now. Picked up a 13700kf for 180.00 used but came looking new and it's a beast, running some now cheap manually oced b die DDR4 in gear 1 and everything is near instant....
With the 300.00 difference that can pay for a lot more GPU for most gamers.
This is not a slickdeal, this is a shill deal.
Yup! Herd mentality is real. Barely a few frames more over the prior x3d. And as you say, outside gaming, there's many other MUCH cheaper CPU which gets the job done just as fast.

Absolutely NOTHING bad about this CPU, but ain't a deal, ain't revolutionary, and it's the same effect as black Friday used to be before the online era - herds

This was not posted as a deal. It as posted to let people know that it was back in stock. It has been very difficult finding this CPU in stock at authorized retailers at MSRP. So, the intended audience of this post are those who have been trying to buy it.

It is not a practical buy in almost all cases, but if people want to buy it and can afford it, good for them. That doesn't make them into shills.

You too thirsty, bro. Stop putting people down just because you disagree with them.

It's one thing to share your opinion that this ain't worth it—fair enough. It's another to call people stupid because you have a differing opinion.

When "Slickdeals" posts an item at MSRP, during no shortages, lockdowns, emergency, a non-essential, I call that herd mentality. It does NOT mean those buying it are stupid. It's temporarily OOS occasionally, but it is 2 months later already, so logical availability is not so much an issue. Hence, just throwing a dose of reality for some those forgetting why they're buying it, and do they even need it. We ALL are part of the herd, some resist better, some are more aware, but in the end, everyone is human, and we all fall for it at one point or another.

But the 9800X3D has been out of stock everywhere until yesterday. It has been extremely difficult to find at MSRP at authorized retailers. Every time it went in stock, it would only last 5–15 minutes. Even now, if you buy one at Amazon, it won't ship for another month.

That's why this "non-deal" was posted.

Currently on AM4 platform with. 5500 CPU + 6900XT GPU.

Should I stay on AM4 for a couple more years and grab a 5700x3D or jump to AM5 with the 9800x3D?
