Everyone ready for another iteration of the same thing? I don't know why I do it every year, but it's been a good 4 years now where I literally can't tell the difference and just deal with a hassle of moving everything over and logging into everything for no reason.

I still haven't used any of the AI crap that came with the s24 ultra.
Save up to $1250 is a real bad sign for how expensive this phone will be.

I'll guess $1800 for the ultra

Have an S22 Ultra that's starting to show burn in, particularly on the top bar. Definitely looking to trade it in if the price is as high as last year. I moved to a Pixel 9 when it launched because of that crazy iPhone 12 trade-in deal but I prefer Samsung's OS and I'm ready to carry a big phone around again.

Lol I always do this... Even though I've not upgraded since the note 10+ from 2019 LOL
Note10+ is one of the best phone ever made. Still works great with 12 gb RAM

What do you expect to be different? They found a form factor that works and that's what people want. Most people just want a phone that holds a charge and works. And then the rest of us want a phone that holds a charge, works, and has a great camera.

Then there is a tiny portion of the population that wants a foldable or other niche phone.

I used to upgrade every year but now that phones are 1200 bucks I do it every 3 years (with the device payment plan credits)
It isnt the form factor I want.. but I dont have an option of s24 ultra specs without the pen and the phone shrunk to account for the pen being removed.

I hardly do carrier lock in deals because you're stuck with the plan for the length of the promo. Not everyone has that luxury of course.
My Verizon Play More plan is being charged an extra $5 a month for having a grandfathered plan. FFS
Get rid of Verizon ASAP.

Every years they increase their fees. The most offended one is "Administrative fee". In the past, you can break the contract but not anymore since you don't have a "contract".

I think my next phone after my current S23 Ultra will most likely end up being the Oneplus 13. Never owned a Oneplus before. The overall specs and the advancement they've made in their glacier battery technology have impressed me and here's hoping the reviews confirm that once it's released...
Quote from DrJacobie :
Don't do it. OnePlus has gone down significantly in terms of quality and innovation since the 7pro. They no longer use Oxygen OS which was easily the best part of the experience, and most of the specs are downgraded or on par with that generation of smartphones.
How bad can the software be especially if one uses launchers like nova prime? Embargo on reviews was lifted today and the early ones coming in have been nothing short of superlative..

Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon...Pcmag states it doesn't have the mmWave band... Not sure how to take this as my last few galaxy phones have had this..

I did the S24U Pre-order last year and the site was garbage for almost a week. The Build-A-Bundle page didn't work (I tried to get a watch and accessories). Deceptive pricing changed nearly every time I logged in. The pricing the first day was great but wouldn't process the order at the end (which made me miss 15% cashback via browser extension). The next day the price went up $150 and customer service was completely worthless, even with screenshots provided. Planets align with more ease than my EPP/Trade-in/Pre-order discounts working correctly.

May the odds be ever in your favor. ✌️

Hypothetically say If the new S25Ultra is 1400, and they would be willing to trade S24U for 1250 plus the promotional credit 50$, will it be worth it to get the S25U for 100$? Any recommendations?
You aren't getting an Ultra for $100.

It's been around $600 with the last S2xU trade-in at release for the previous two cycles. I think there was a deal back around the S22U release where you could get one for $400 at launch if you clicked the right combination of buttons on the Samsung website, but for the most part, that "if I click these buttons in this combination" stuff on the Samsung website has been resolved.

I figure it's $600 a year or $50 a month to have the latest hardware that, unfortunately, I use multiple hours a day and is on my person every moment I'm not asleep (isn't that sad of me to say?).

I miss the simplicity of life back when I had a Startac and a pager.

Yeah the best trade-in price will most likely be a ZFold 6 (maybe the s24 Ultra also), and I'm sure the free storage upgrade is factored into the $1250 saved so its probably $1100 for trade-in and $150 in the storage upgrade or something.

When are they going to bring back the SD card slot… if ever?

THAT was a tremendous deal about the Galaxy s[n] series. I'm a bit of a "power user" on my phone (~2K+ apps, many of which, I'd drop, only if necessary). Anyway, they dropped the SD card slots & they went with (s[21+n])Ultra no SD card option. The last SD card slot in a Galaxy "s" series phone I saw was the s20 Ultra.

I finally went with s24 Ultra 512GB last year. Much to my surprise, as with someone's comment above, there was barely anything that appeared improved in the normal functions other than the camera and a marginal increase in speed. That's it!

If they'd add the SD card slot back to it again, maaaaaybe I'd bite… otherwise I'm saving my money (and STILL, I'm paying for my s24 Ultra). Meanwhile, maybe I'll go with s28 Ultra to see if there are any MAJOR improvements from my s24 Ultra 512GB. If not, I might wait until s32 Ultra (if I'm still kicking).

I will never go with an i(nn)Phone. There is never anything improved about their technology other than, yes, Apple is a USA company (not technology, I know) & maybe a little bit more time between battery charging. That's all I've ever seen.

Why do these pre-order post get so many up votes? There's nothing special, no real savings, nor have they even been good for several years now.

Usually the credit (50 + 100 or 150 etc) is towards accessories . I have done this for years , never got the credit directly for the device itself. It's for other accessories like buda watch cases chargers

I miss pre-order goodies. Headphones, wireless charger with block, memory cards, health trackers, etc... we didn't know how good we had it.

Yet people still would find a way to sh!t on Samsung or complain about something even though they are the most generous company. Just look at the amount of people talking crap in this thread as if Samsung owes them.
