It's better to buy it from straight talk website directly since you could get better cashback (12% currently) from some cash back site. Also some chase card give 25% cashback for straight talk (capped at 15).

That can bring down the effective price to 204. (You still have to pay tax on 249 though)

Adding the link to the previous thread.
A bit more than the previous deal after taxes+fees but similar overall.
I purchased it last time and consensus was that you need to purchase the silver plan at minimum to get this price. Only need to buy one month of service. Wait another 30 days (60 days total) then the phone will be carrier unlocked.

It's not $50 higher than BF deal.
It's $40 higher than BF deal since this only needs $35 plan but the BF deal needs $45 plan.

Oh it' not that price in store? Damm
I walked into a different store near me and bought another. We have multiple lines on my account. It rang up for $249.99 so I didn't have to deal with any price differences. Also, I did not have to buy any plan with the phone.

Jumped on the deal. Didn't take the time to choose the plan. Can I do this via ST website and does the phone have eSim capabilities?
Figured I'd answer my own question here. Went to my local Walmart and purchased the $35 ST card.
Came home and visited ST's website to set up the phone.
Phone came with the SIM card, so no need to purchase that. Was up and running in about 30 mins.
Checked my time to Unlock and it showed 3/10/25. Made a test call and then updated to IOS 18. Letting her sit in the corner plugged in untill it's unlocked. Didn't bother to check on the eSim but it does appear it's capable. Probably won't cut it for this deal or I'm assuming someone would have mentioned it.

Well, then the Walmart employee and you are both wrong.

The deal experts here on Slickdeals have fine tuned this procedure to a science, doing it thousands of times.

I'm guessing your Walmart employee doesn't have the 10,000x brains of expertise we do.

I'm going to give you a tip. The people in this thread have more intelligence in their little finger than the smartest Walmart CS on earth has in their entire body.

You can bet your life on the fact that only 30 days of service is needed. Even if a billion Walmart employees object.

So "good luck" yourself as you pay for an extra month you didn't need to, just because you fell for something an uneducated Walmart employee made up.
Get on the phone and tell CS you read stuff on Slickdeals.

I see no conditions on plan, the cheapest plan should work, the previous deal did have the $35 condition.
60 day unlock ruling was for phones sold and ACTIVATED on Verizon or its MVNO's
Will that ruling apply on non activated? One can only try and see I guess

So, it seems that the verdict on unlock policy is in?
My jumping on this deal is all dependent on the total amount of money I have to spend before I can unlock it. Basically, that is the price point this deal will come down to.

Honestly don't educate the people who don't want to be educated. This leaves good deals up for longer Smilie iPhone deals especially attract these types, sorry to say for the iOS fanboys, but the stereotypical Apple users take less risks AND can't be bothered to learn new information, which is why Tim Apple can sell you the same phone for 4 years straight laugh out loud

Do we need to call ST to unlock the phone or is it automatic?
It's automatic 60 days after activation. You can text "help", then "unlock" to 611611 to confirm your unlock date after you've activated the phone. Don't listen to the schmuck on here who thinks the mutants at Walmart know anything.

We've all done this multiple times on slick deals you don't need to buy a second month of service just activate the phone with one month of service, and put it in away for 60 days and it will be unlocked. This goes for any Verizon MVNO not just straight talk.
