Outside temp can get to 18 19F and the bedroom is so dry. I tried adjusting the setting to 50 or even 60% humidity, going from moderate cool mist to full hot mist or half cool half hot but still kept waking up at night sinus hurts so much and felt so dry in my nostrils. Anyone has any good setting for this? I cleaned this unit almost every week and use distilled water.

We also have a distilled water maker for these, so I am constantly producing 3 gallons per day, just to keep up. I'll admit, the most annoying part of these is keeping them clean - otherwise, I have no issues with this brand and all of these models. Just get the one that fits your room size the best!
I have the big boy 600s one in the house. That one has wick filters to get rid of any minerals or whatever else in the water so that you don't need to use distilled. Love the thing, huge difference maker. That one needs 6 gallons of water at a time and I easily blow through it a day.
On another note with distilled water in the regular cool mist humidifiers. It's important to use especially if you use gas to cook. We once used tap water in cool mist humidifiers and the fire on the stove started burning red. I thought it was a regulator problem or something, instead it was because of the humidifier putting all of the minerals from the water into the air and it was burning up. I'd imagine that having that stuff floating around landing on all of your surfaces isn't the best in general either. So yeah, use distilled.
If it was a once in awhile when you're sick thing I'd say no big deal but since you're using it full time, it's totally worth it.
