FYI, I believe internal storage performs best per DigitalFoundry:

It's not a huge difference from internal vs SD card but I figured it would be helpful to know.

Have the same issue, bought the normal version probably a year ago, would gladly pay $6 to upgrade. Never seen the GOTY edition DLC upgrade on sale though, and not rebuying...
