I know it's $13 more but the one at Costco has 18 pieces. So you get 18 pieces of glass food containers for $36. Costco deal is a better ratio at $2 per item.

??? The pics show hinge-locks. If they don't have hinges how do the non-existent hinges break off?
I think they mean that these don't have a pin-style hinge (like the way a door hinge works). These appear to be plastic tabs that bend when you lock them. Over time, the fatigue causes them to break. I've had that happen to some of my glass container lids. I now no longer buy containers without real hinges.

I don't see that it is made of Borosilicate glass.

If your not sure why you would want it, then you fortunately have not had a glass item shatter and cast glass shrapnel all over your kitchen.
Pyrex claims to be made from borosilicate glass. I've had multiple shatter.

Only vintage Pyrex (in all caps "PYREX" on the container) is borosilicate glass. New stuff has been tempered glass for many many years. There was a cool Popular Science article in the aughts about crack dealers having to switch to lab glass when they made the change.

I mean my set was from 2012. I suppose it's not vintage. Regardless I highly doubt any tuppaware is made from borosilicate glass these days especially at this price point.

Two separate pieces of plastic to form a hinge vs one thin piece of plastic that will bend back and forth until it breaks.

Did you add the cost of the Costco ownership for everyone who doesn't have it? Well….
You can't just add the infinite value of a Costco membership to the calculus or you'd skew everything

That also has smaller containers right?

A set of larger containers is great if you're going double meal prep and have a freezer. Still unclear how good this woot deal really is…
All the WOOT items are larger than 3 cups, I don't need little ones littering my cabinets. I have the PYREX round ones. This is perfect for leftovers, meal prep, fit in lunch boxes etc.

Who said anything about tuppaware having borosilicate glass in it?

If someone who receives this item could tell me whether it ships in a single nested stack and the dimensions, and weight, I would be much obliged. Because I am thinking of flying them in a personal item 18x14x8...or send them to my freight forwarder
Not nested here. Each piece with its cover latched and individually wrapped for protection.

Wow, Thanks! There's an image in the ad that pretty obviously shows at least a few of them nesting, which is critical to my ability to transport them. With some kind of light foam, it has to be that some of them, at least, are nestable?

Not in front of me ATM but you can probably figure it out from the dimensions. I believe there are two square and 3 rectangular, probably mixed shapes won't nest but maybe same shapes would.

Given enough hinge flexing it will break. If you want a set but are concerned about hinge problems then consider the Costco similar item. It can be returned without question anytime.
