Some reviews report insecure blade retention leading to blades falling out during use. Reviews for the
Craftsman version of this saw (CMES300) [lowes.com] report the same issue; one Lowes reviewer suggests drilling the retaining hole on the blade out to 5/32" for more positive retention:
This is a decent saw but I do agree with others that it has trouble holding onto to blades. I found that if you run a 5/32" drill bit through the locking pin eye on the end of the the blade before putting it in the saw, the saw will now hold the blade securely. This helps the locking pin on the saw sit deeper into the blade locking pin eye. I ran my Milwaukee metal blades roughly through some pipe lots of times with lots of vibration and the blades did not come out once! If for some reason the saw still lets go you could try a drill bit one size up from 5/32". Now I don't have a reason to find a different saw. I'd say craftsman should change the locking pin design then they would have a good smaller saw that meets all my normal project needs.
