great machine at $399. Aluminum body feels quite premium, definitely punching above the weight class. Trackpad is also much better than expected in the price class. Comes with Intel AX211 wifi, again, better than others in this price range. Touch screen doesn't matter much to me, but a nice feature. Screen is nothing special, but at 350 nits bright enough. Arc graphics means I can play some older titles and less graphically demanding stuff. I also got a code for Assassin's Creed Shadows, so assuming I can flip that for around $20-30 then this will have been $370ish+tax. I think this is a no brainer at this price.

The Arc iGPU on this can easily play those games. There are YouTube videos out there for gaming tests on the Intel 125H, Fortnite is consistently 90-100+ FPS and I see no issues at all with Sims, as it's an older title and light on graphics.

The iGPUs in Intel Series 1 & 2, along with AMD chips (680M, 780M, 880M) are all more than capable of playing light to medium games. Again, there are YouTube videos out there for these chips pushing 30-45 FPS for titles like Cyberpunk even.

Too many enthusiasts think that you need at least a $500+ dedicated GPU to get even any form of gaming performance, and that's simply not true anymore with the current state of iGPUs. Besides a vast majority of people are playing very resource light games like Fortnite, Overwatch, Diablo, Marvel Rivals, etc. All these F2P, Games as a Service, type of offerings. Low to Med settings suffice for most consumers.

I recently ordered the refurbished Lenovo Thinkbook 16 at a similar price.
Wondering if this Acer would be a better option since it's new.

Not a gamer laptop. Those will have discrete GPU which this doesn't. It doesn't mean you cannot do some light gaming at lower frame rate but by no means is this a gaming laptop.

You can't get a gaming laptop for this price anywhere. $1000 for entry level and $1500-2000 for something midrange.

Agreed. I bought one of these for my son last week when our Microcenter restocked and a few days ago we played Minecraft Dungeons on it. We changed the game settings to max fancy graphics and he was getting 90-100 fps in the game. By comparison, my Dell with a 8th gen i7 was coughing blood at 10 fps on fast graphics settings for the same game.
