I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

What is the trick to port in from AT&T or Verizon? I am on T-Mobile so if there is a way, please help me
I've successfully used FreedomPop Starter SIM Kit from Target to get a new cell phone number. Then use it for a couple of days on another unlocked phone and then port this number to the Metro by T-Mobile phone. I recently did this in October 2024. Here's a link to the Target FreedomPop card for $5. Hopefully your Target will carry it. FreedomPop's website lowest price is $10.

Same question since Straight Talk is owned by Verizon.I'm waiting on the iPhone 13 I just bought from ST to be delivered, if I can use that number from my one month of service to also grab one of these, $125 + tax is pretty sick to have another even as just a Wi-Fi device.
Switching from Straight Talk is a nightmare. Metro often ports your number and then won't let you finish the order. Straight Talk customer service refuses to help because, in their system, the number has been ported to Metro. The number continues to work on Straight Talk because the porting never really happens. Metro says it's still pending and tells you to contact Straight Talk. I've gone in circles so many times I just gave up. Some online forums and Reddit discussions suggest using Straight Talk's corporate ZIP code 33127 when filling out the Metro transfer information, but that didn't work for me either. It's like a never-ending bad dream.

Just to confirm, these do not work with T-Mobile Postpaid until the 12 month unlock, correct?

This vs 12 for Apple trade? Curious where people fall on the matter. Currently have one line that got a 12 earlier this month. Guessing for $35 + cost this is a no brainer

So I bought the iPhone 13 from Straight Talk for $250
And this one costs only $125. I guess it is a better deal?
ST is a better deal if you want to phone unlocked. 60 days vs 365 days. The iPhone 17 will be out before you can activate this iPhone 13 off network.

Caught up in exactly this loop trying to max value on my one month of Straight Talk service from the iPhone SE 3 deal. Spent half an hour trying to get it working and now I'm just giving up. It's not worth trying to max value if I've got to talk to mobile phone customer service agents.

You may have never activated it. This is the most common Metro unlock failure reason. Did you make calls and send texts from the device after receiving it?

yes .....
Evidence of this? I think the 1 year "paper" policy started May last year so if it was widespread that the 1 year was fake, it'd be well known now since the May and June 2024 activated devices should have unlocked by now if it was still 6 months.

This deal is more suitable for trade-in. 365 days is eternality in cell phone :-) FYI: Both T-mobile and ATT accept locked Iphone, but not Verizon.

I'm in my 1st month with an iphone 12 in-hand, and it's telling me I'm ineligible for this offer. This would be my 2nd line, I haven't signed up for any additional lines for phones or tablets. Anyone else seeing this, or have any insight?
