I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

Will a Tracfone number work for port-in ?
Yes, but be careful though. You may have problem with your number if Metro cancelled your order. Don't port in important number. See my guide above.

Does it work even when updated to ios18?
I have been using the MKSD 5.7 on Mint and it works with iOS18, not sure about 5.6. What I do is make a backup and download the previous version of the IPSW before I move to the next update. So if I was on 18.1, I'd back it up, download the 18.1 IPSW and then update. If it fails, I use the IPSW to go back to 18.1 and my backup to restore the phone. So far, I haven't had any issues though.

I have got v5.7, it worked couple months and now it is hit or miss. Phone goes SOS no service often.
I've seen similar issues with the 5.7, but it usually only happens if I power the phone off and back on. I have to toggle the SIM off and back on (Settings->Cellular) and then usually turn mobile data off and on (Control Center) and then Mint service comes back on.

If an order is not completed, Metro blocks the number temporarily from 4-8 hours.

You can change the visible number from chat bot and try with the new number.
Thanks but I wonder if the credit/debit card I used or the Visible new number was the issue.

The email is new, the Visible number is new with a new account but I used the same previous name/address/credit/debit card.

Never had a problem with my old iPhone/Samsung/Moto orders before.

This time, Metro didn't asked the three(3) person question at the end of the order.

I ordered my new iPhone 13 at about 5am CST this morning and the phone was still in stock at the website when I process the order.

iPhone 14 is surely coming online very soon.

Available online now. Though honestly doesn't seem like a hugely better deal. The phones are largely identical, with the same A15 chip (https://www.apple.com/sg/iphone/c...,iphone-14). Trade in values from Apple reflect that, you'll score $50 more, and this will cost $50 more.

Thanks for the heads up, it's online. If we are talking about trade in values it's the same as the iPhone 13 when you take it to Apple. Considering the specs they are almost the same phone too lol. Not really worth the extra cost imo

Stop saying false things. You only need to pay for one month of service. Then after 12 months, service or not, it will be eligible for unlocking.
Can you use T-Mobile on it while it's locked. It's technically Metro by T-Mobile?

Ordered yesterday, still waiting for it to ship, has anyone received a tracking number yet?

Is it possible to place another order, or do I have to activate the first device, first?

Yes, you can first sign up on the website, but eventually have to do through the app

CSR has said that for years but I have 20 unlocked Metro phones that say otherwise.
