I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

Apple iPhone 13 128GB Midnight on Metro by T-Mobile website.
Online deal only.
Price has been reduced to $50.
Phone takes one year to get unlocked after initial activation date.

From my experience on Tello, everything works perfectly - imessage, facetime, mms, sms, app store, etc
Can you check actually if it's unlocked right now? I heard for some phones, while it says one year, it still gets unlocked after 6 months

i still have un-used moto phone with me. i tried unlocking by calling them. they mentioned clearly i should have 12 month paid service. what other info you need.
When you purchased/activated? Over 12 months already? As someone mentioned unlock policy changes around April 2024.

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date. "

Anywhere it said you need to have 12 months paid service?

Thanks, then it seems they are enforcing the one year rule on the iPhone right now.
As far as I knew, at least for motorola phones, they still get unlocked after 6 months.

Ok, my mother needs an upgrade and she is on Metro so can I buy this doing a port-in with number then cancel the plan but put her metro sim in instead?

Do people buy these and then put them in a drawer for 12 months waiting for unlock? I'm not versed in provider hopping. For a family it seems like a giant PITA

no reason to believe it won't. MKSD just fools the hardware to bypass the carrier lock.
Does any one know which one would work better with iphone 13 and iphone 14? MKSD Ultra V5.6 or v5.7

Odd… I am unable to add a new line to my account even with using cellular on the new MetroPCS phone I received for my first phone for the account. Tried using different name, address, payment method, nothing works. Any solutions? I didn't have this issue with my other three lines I was able to max out four devices on.

You are correct in principle. But: 1. You don't need to cancel anything, you just stop paying. 2. For metro, you have to do switch devices after login into your account, you can't just pop in a working sim and hope it just works

Can't use MKSD with IPhone 14 since its esim only. I've been using 5.6 with IPhone 13 for few months now with Tello and works flawlessly

Did you already have the Tello SIMs or is that something you did after you purchased the phones?I have an XR currently on Tello that I would love to replace with a 13. Would the process for me be (1) acquire a burner phone number to port in (2) pay for one month on Metro (3) swap in the Tello SIM with MKSD? I wouldn't port in my number with Tello, right?
I did after to see if it worked before porting my number. Your process is 100% correct
