I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

My parents have T mobile post paid. If I sign up for metro for this deal and then pop in their T mobile sim will it work? It should since it's still on T mobile or does metro limit it to only metro?

this can be used on wifi for months 2-11 as basically an ipod touch before unlocking after a year, right? looking to get my wife a super cheap iphone and apple watch SE for better syncing of health and excercise data (android sucks for this) but she doesn't want to switch to iphone as her DD. just wanting something that will allow her to wear the watch to track her workouts and then sync when we get home from the gym (or while we're at the gym on wifi)...

What is the maximum number of days I am allowed to wait for port in to Metropcs from existing carrier plan once I receive the phone? I want to squeeze my existing plan fully before I port out to this plan

Yes this will work fine on Wifi only. I bought a similar deal on an iPhone SE to use some apps I don't want on my regular phone. Those apps I mainly use at home.

How would I give this phone away as new on day 1 of arrival ? Would the other person use this on tmobile esim/physical sim with no issues ?

What if the new owner is also using metro ? Would they be able to register the imei on their account without any intervention ? Or do I have to ask metro to remove the imei from my acc first ?

You can't use this phone on Tmobile, this phone is locked to Metro for 1 year.
if you want to give this phone to a Metro user, you need to move your service to another metro phone, or if you don't need the line, call metro and cancel the line

I keep getting an error when submitting payment for the visible plan. The live agent couldn't help. Have you seen that error?
Not seen the error. Your total should be $5 for the plan. Try another card as sometime that helps

Anyone get their orders shipped over the weekend? I bought on Friday, got shipping number Saturday but tracking says UPS still doesn't have possession as of Monday today.
