The problem with a deep fryer is the set up and clean up. I don't deep fry everyday. When I do, I don't want to always go through the hassle of setting up the deep fryer, pouring out the amount of oil that would usually last me a month, frying, waiting for the oil to cool down completely, straining the oil, storing it away, and then cleaning all of the parts of the deep fryer. It's WAY easier to just throw a bunch of wings into an air fryer and spray some oil, and then cleanup is just taking the whole air fryer basket and throwing it into the dishwasher. The small trade off on texture and taste does not outweigh the tremendous difference in cleanup needed.
Great deal. Thanks for posting, OP. I bought a similar Bella about 4 years ago on a Best Buy deal, but with the mechanical dial timer instead of the electronic controls. It was $30 as well, but this one is much nicer with more capacity.
If you're never owned an air fryer, it's an amazingly versatile appliance. I use mine daily for heating/cooking many different frozen foods with just the right amount of browning, barbecuing one or 2 entrees, and reheating leftovers. Can't imagine how I ever got by without it. I pick up the rotisserie chickens at Walmart for $6 each, cut them into halves, and freeze them. After thawing, they're delicious after 20-25 minutes in the air fryer at 225 degrees or so.
Ahhh I couldn't resist at this price; I went ahead and ordered one and I'll keep my old one as a spare. It's seen a huge amount of use in the years I've had it. $30 shipped for this one is a steal
Air Fryers are good for warming things up if you don't have toaster oven. But for actually making fried food, skip the gadgetry and buy a deep fryer. You will thank me later.

It's hard to find the airfryers now that have the basket with the handle that lifts out from the main tray. It makes it easier to dump and or separate whatever you could from the dripping or whatever in the bottom. This style you have to remove the food then reach down or get something to pull the bottom grate out.

It's a piece of junk - I bought one exactly one week ago. It has a crisping tray, which has rubber tips sitting inside the fryer to insure air circulation.
I'm not going to eat any food cooked with rubbers 400+F for any time, less so for an extended time.

I line my air fryer basket with aluminum foil prior to use; it eliminates 90% of clean-up work and costs about 4 cents. It also captures rendered grease to go into the trash after cooling instead of clogging my drain pipes. I still scrub the basket from time to time, after a good soak to soften things up.
You are eating same amount of oil....unless you overcook your stuff in deep frying to the point of drying the item out and oil seeps in. 99.9% of pre-made fried foods in the frozen aisle have been flash fried already so they have same amount of residual oil on them as items that you pull out of deep fryer.
Not even close to the same. Deep fryers generally leave your house smelling like oil and splatter all over your kitchen. Just because something was precooked in oil doesn't mean it won't soak up more while being fried.
Air fryer gets you 95% of the effect of frying without making your house smell like a grease trap.
I've owned both and tossed the deep fryer long ago. Between the cost of oil and the mess of a deep fryer, there's no comparison. Some things are *slightly* better deep fried, but not enough to justify the cost and mess of frying in your house.
I have this same model air fryer from Bella. Works really well but I will say that I'm not a huge fan of the "touchscreen" controls. It's a little finicky when you are trying to cycle through the various functions. It's a minor annoyance for me but it wouldn't stop me from purchasing at this price.
When it comes to these basket fryer air fryers, they are hands down better than any toaster oven style air fryer. My introduction to an air fryer was the ninja foodi xl which I still have. In my opinion, the basket fryer cooks and crisps things better than the ninja xl. My kids use the air fryer every morning for bagels or toast. Pop the bagel in on air fry for 3 minutes and it comes out perfect. So for us it doubles as a toaster oven. Our actual toaster over, the ninja foodi pretty much sits next to it unused. We use the Bella to reheat food as mentioned above and also half cook items when in a hurry. I'll put things like frozen chicken tenders in the microwave for maybe 90 seconds and finish them in the air fryer to crisp them up. I'd recommend this air fryer, it works well.
This is my only nit as well. Absolutely love this fryer and the capacity and reliability, but man are the touch controls a nuisance; inconsistent at best.
Wish it had physically clicky buttons like my 4qt Bella did!

Try this- take a boneless chicken breast and put it on a small piece of parchment on a baking pan on 400 for 1 hour. Don't season it, don't add cooking spray, don't add oil or butter, just a it comes with the skin. After an hour, see how it looks exactly like it does when fried, crispy skin and all? More try corn, and french fry cut potatoes (season to taste but no need for oil). It's all built in. We forget so quickly where our food comes from and why that food is pure food to begin with.

What kind of meaningful insight are we supposed to gain from that link? I've never owned an air fryer that didn't have those rubber tips and I can definitively say that none have been "junk". And one last thing; you do realize that most of these air fryers are coming out of the same factories regardless of branding, right? The only garbage here is your post. Thanks for being such an outstanding contributor to this thread. I just bought this air fryer and I'm excited to use it!

There are number of deep fryers with self-filtration that dumps the oil right into a tank that goes into the fridge, etc. It has a thermostat that it performs this when the oil is cool enough. That the type I used. It's same clean up as air fryer.

Oil smell is result of either overheating the oil or using very old oil that has now low smoke point. Splatter isn't an issue if the food is properly submerged.
Air fryers fail to do significant portion on actual frying. No tempura, no batters, no churros....basically anything that isn't dry coating...

I would only do that to chicken breast that I bought from a local farm. A chicken breast made like that bought from any supermarket will taste like bland garbage. (I grew up on home raise chickens, ducks, etc )
Won't be thanking you when I end up in the hospital with diabetes😀. Air fryers allow you to have good tasting food with much less or no oil.
It's the carbs/sugar that causes diabetes not fat. In fact I personally know several people that eliminated their type 2 diabetes by limiting carbs and eating a high fat diet.

I always loved that the unofficial spokesman for diabetes, Wilford Brimley, couldn't pronounce it correctly and called it "diabeetus". Reminded me of GW Bush with his terrists and nucular weapons.

it's not even the carbs but the refined sugars that are included in all processed foods that Americans eat. Euros and Asians eat ton of carbs and obesity is nowhere near.
