Selling at most other places (Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung direct and others) for the full $2K retail price. Woot has it now for $900, which is a great price - but noticed that Focus Camera on eBay seems to have it lower than anyone else anywhere. This system is rated as the GOAT soundbar system - bar none. Better than Bose, Sonos, Yamaha, and even the vaunted Nakamichi Dragon). Consumer Reports (who did not rate this specific system) rated 2 older Samsung sound bars as #1 and #2, but take a look on YouTube, it's fairly universal that this one is the best you can buy. In particular, check out audiophile Andrew Robinson's (400K followers) review ("STILL THE BEST Home Theater Soundbar Samsung Q990D Review"). He reviews 6 figure speakers, and calls this soundbar system the GOAT.

As a side note, the Samsung Q990B and Q900C appear to be almost identical to the Q990D. Apparently the Q990D has an upgraded HDMI 2.1 port, which resulted in the letter upgrade to "D."

I was hoping either Best Buy or Target would price match but they both have new restrictive policies where they only price match specific competitors (Target only price matches Amazon and Wal Mart)

Thanks for pointing this out! I was about to pull the trigger and now I'm quite reluctant and may hold out for a similar sale from another retailer or directly from Samsung

I got the Q990C for $598 last year. This is by no means an upgrade. The deal for $598 last year was much better. $900 is not a slickdeal at all.

Is this regarding the 1 year warranty only? It might be worth the risk in that case, considering it's presumably unlikely to give issues in the first year.

Agreed, not to mention that Samsung just unveiled the 990D's successor so once that starts shipping, the D should drop to $600 to reduce stock for the new flagship model.

Right, the only thing newer really on this is the updated HDMI version, but who cares really for now.

We bought from this vendor and absolutely love the system. The Q990D is not just the addition of HDMI 2.1. It also supports Private Listening mode which is the feature my wife and I like to use. We have a little one at home so private listening mode allows us to shrink our sound bubble to just the rear speakers rather than filling up the whole house with ambient noise. In private listening mode, the system directs the sound to only the rear speakers while rest of the house is quiet. Regarding the warranty concerns that others mention... it's only a 1 year warranty and this wasn't a make or break for us. The deal is good enough and we are enjoying the system. We doubt there will be issues within one year.
