I picked up one last night. The mower itself looks good so thinking it was crated until I purchased. BUT, the four batteries that came with it are all dead. They won't charge or do anything. I called EGO customer service this afternoon and they sent two emails - the first asking for a copy of the sales receipt and pictures of all four battery serial numbers, the mower serial number and the included charger serial number. The next email requested videos of me tapping the battery power button and also holding it down for 5 seconds for each battery along with capturing each serial number in the video.

I will update once I hear back.

It really shouldn't make a difference, but was yours floor model. I waiting on one to be assembled.
Receipt sold as new, not floor model. Was told it's due to the price, Lowe's wasn't authorized to sell at that price even though they're an authorized seller. Ego escalated up to their leadership, will supposedly hear from them tomorrow.

Good start! A 'paper' trail is highly useful. They cannot deny warranty to a new purchaser who otherwise has met the written conditions of warranty. Do as they ask, and you should be gtg.

If you get 4 new batteries then that is a SD! When Home Depot clearanced out Ego I got a snow blower that was kept outside in the lawn and garden area uncovered and the two 7.5 batteries were stored in a box in the rafters so exposed to temperature extremes but luckily I have had no issues, but they were fresh batteries not over 3 years old like people are reporting.

I know with the rapid charger after you first put the battery on the charger makes a click and the kinda senses the existing battery charge/temp prior to charging as there is a sound and the lights cycle. Perhaps these batteries are so dead that the charger doesn't recognize them.

Their excuse, but not the purchaser's problem. You have a reasonable expectation of warranty as written at the time of purchase.

I doubt Lowes is violating any pricing agreement, and front line care is simply told to deny battery warranty claims on any number of excuses, which are not in the written warranty. I've had Lowe's break open stuff from stock to 'make me whole' when parts are missing, and even had Depot do the same, they gave me 3 different AH batteries when I purchased a returned 'scratch and dent' mower back when they had the Ego line. Depot area manager (outdoor/garden) had plenty of negotiation room to move the used unit. Was $150 for 21 inch self propelled, new bag, slightly used mulch plug, and he found 2 5AH and 1 2.5AH batteries instead of the 7.5AH it was supposed to come with. I was happy with 12.5AH total.

Archive of their warranty website. All four of my batteries from Dec 2021 are fine, so far...

Just got off the phone with Lowe's Sedalia Mo. They tell me that they have one more available. Their website shows out of stock so reach out to the store and ask for Bob the assistant manager. With this purchase, I hope to get the final gas powered device aside from a plugin hybrid out of the garage. My use case is residential with about ¾ acre of flat and hilled yard. I have had great experience with the Ego line of equipment including mower, trimmer, leaf blower, and most recently snow thrower that tackled 13 inches of snowfall with a 3 car garage and circle driveway as well as a long sidewalk. I didn't expect it to perform as well as it did. Good luck to all who have rolled the dice on this one. I am hoping for continued success!

I should mention that often dead batteries can be revived by a quick touch from leads off another battery, to wake up a BMS that has drifted passed it's cut-off point. Also sometimes attempting to charge repeatedly gives it enough juice to wake up. Search YT for 'wake up' LiIon battery. Even if you get them replaced by Ego, don't toss these, they may be okay after a few hacks.

Just got done returning mine after calling support and being told I won't get warranty coverage. I won't ever be buying Ego products because of this shady behavior.
