I bought this for the hot summer months(100F +) for car camping. It reduced temperatures by about 10F at best while car is not in shade. It's really bad for that purpose. I ended up using it outside the car like a cool fan while sitting in a shade. Might as well use a swamp cooler.

Also you can only charge the battery while the ac unit is connected. So you can't bring the battery in your home to charge, you have to carry the entire thing. It does charge with solar.
Yea, over 100 degrees most things will struggle unless you pull alot of power, this isn't suited for extreme heat or extreme humidity. In average temps this excels and is very portable.
Cheaper with code EF6PCTOFF

They're kinda dodgy on the wattage consumption specs of this, eh?
I gathered "1500w cooling capacity" and "1800w heating capacity"
But it's not describing actual power consumption. I can't imagine a/c on it is really 1kw when in use, but i'd assume it's at least 700-800w when the compressor is running.
So using it as a car-camping a/c, i can see it being relatively useful for a long period because the compressor doesn't have to kick on and off frequently. But let's say you use this thing in a tent, the compressor running full-time....800w- you'd theoretically need 6.4kw of battery to run it 8hrs

Using electric heat amplifies power consumption, but it's a very nice feature to have as an all-in-one unit.

These have their use but I caution people to understand power consumption and battery capacities before buying these things *for a lot of money* and being disappointed.
FWIW a portable a/c can be purchased on amazon for a few hundred bucks, using approx the same wattage to do the same thing. Shoot, I got a 12kbtu portable a/c for use during power outages (used it for a week after Milton knocked out our power) and it cost me ~365. Probably runs 900-1000w when the compressor is running.
Data point, mine pulls about 500-550w from wall. 400-450w of DC plug on delta2

That is because there are so many modes but consumption is nowhere near 800w. On max heat mode it's 500-600w. In cooling it's around 400w, in eco mode it's much less, and obviously in fan mode it's hardly anything at all, less than 100w.

When I saw the movie Congo as a kid, I was excited that truly portable camping AC existed. Are you telling me this isn't the case? It'll probably run a lot better at 85-95 degrees though
You aren't the only who who still thinks about that scene!

While NOT in shade? Perhaps you misspoke or I misunderstood?

Personally I'd only judge this device for how it lowered ambient temps not how it handled a (functional) greenhouse.

Sadly swamp coolers only work well in low humidity environments. Here in the Southeastern US they tend to make things feel worse.

I understood it the same way. Guy tried to cool a car sitting in the sun with this thing where interior temps can reach 140+degrees on a 100 degree day and got the temp down 90 degrees.

"AC *and* heater—a two-for-one deal!"

It's a heat pump. That's what heat pumps do: they pump heat from one place to another place using electricity.

To tell you the truth it did work. More importantly
Do this decrease humility like a normal AC? That makes a big difference in confident level l.

+1, people expect miracles and don't have realistic expectations.

I wanted this for an enclosed golf cart during the heat in Florida. It sounds like it won't be able to do much.
It absolutely would freeze out a golf cart. I have one.

You have to add at least 10 degrees to the temp when you're in the sun vs shade as temps from the weather reporting are in shade. So it's trying to crank out a lot more work than you think it is. 10 degrees less is still pretty good for those conditions.

Lol @ buying this and expecting it to cool anything. Other than that, it's an overpriced space heater.

Brought the temp down to about 80 during the summer in Texas while in a tent in shade. I returned it.

It's a heat pump. That's what heat pumps do: they pump heat from one place to another place using electricity.
Careful with "AC and heater"....many times they are NOT heat pumps but straight air conditioners with electric heater*, aka there is no reverse cycle heat pump mode. This unit is NOT one of those cases (the battery wouldn't last half an hour) but 95% of the times a heat pump will be advertised as such because it is a huge upgrade over the alternative.

*Pretty much every non-inverter window unit / portable AC will have an electric heater as opposed to being a HP.

I bought this on the last deal. I did a bunch of research and noted the following:

Mixed reviews, but a lot of that seems to be because people don't understand its limitations... based on my research it's to be used between 40 (some say 41) - 100 degrees for heating and cooling in fairly small spaces.

I tried it out in my living room and it heated and cooled well, but I plan to try it out tent camping soon.

2 year owner here. This model has issues with external drainage and leaks.
