I would be very careful closing any computer, let alone a MacBook on those straps. New Mac's will crack as there is no space between the keyboard and screen.

I recommend getting a firm shell case for any device that you actually want to protect. These flimsy/flexible soft shell "cases" are more like bags and just won't do much of anything by way of protecting the device from bend, flex, or impact. Depending on how it lands, it may not offer much of any fall protection. These style of bags were more feasible in the past when devices were 1"+ thick and built like tanks. Back then, a hard shell case was more like carrying a huge briefcase lol. Nowadays, bezels and overall thicknesses have managed to design these devices so thin that one drop on a corner and you have a much higher risk of cracks or damage.

Obviously, this is a totally subjective analysis and some people use their device around the home 99% of the time and baby it the other 1% where a carry bag like this might be perfect for you. For my logic, if I'm taking a Chromebook or laptop anywhere with me, I just don't see any use in putting it in a carry bag that has no structural support when they have so many options that have exactly that. I don't abuse my tech by any means but I also don't take risks with them.

true...I have a HP elitebook, and I was trying to use keyboard cover...but couldn't close the lid properly...these straps are way thicker than that cover.
