NOTE: While the website says $127.97 for the lowest cost battery sizes, that appears to include the $10 core charge because when I went in store, the prices at $10 cheaper ($117.97) than what shows on the website. $10 cheaper in store appeared to be across the board for all battery sizes (I checked a bunch of alternates sizes, with other prices, that all should fit my vehicle to compare additional cost versus additional CCA). I don't believe they will ship these & if they do, they tend to charge for shipping anyway.

https://www.menards.com/main/sear...ve+battery Remember, the price in store was $10 cheaper than shown on the website (but there is a $10 core charge that you get back by returning your old battery (or any car battery).

Until tomorrow they are having a 15% off sale (GOOD ONLY THROUGH SUNDAY 1/12) for anything that fits in one of their standard size paper bags (which are available instore), which brings the $127.97 price online to the $117.97 (Instore price) down to $100.27 plus the $10 core charge which you get back by returning your old battery that you are replacing.
NOTE: make sure to point out to the cashier that the battery will fit in the bag & that you get the 15% off because it does not appear that this is one of the items that automatically ring up that way (at least for the size I bought).

NOTE: The 36-month FREE REPLACEMENT (not just "prorated") warranty is shown as a "Menards exclusive."

FWIW-I used to work in the industrial battery division of one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturers. One of the guys I worked with formerly worked at Johnson Controls (which only made automotive batteries). He mentioned that AC DELCO made really good car batteries and seemed really impressed with the. Personally, I always had good luck with AC DELCO batteries and they used to be the ONLY ones I bought, back when I could find them easily without going through GM (and at great prices from Trak Auto, when they were still around).

By way of comparison, you could by a group size 51R battery from Menards for $100.27 with FREE 3-year replacement and the same size from Walmart in an EverStart Maxx Lead Acid Automotive Battery with a 3-year replacement warranty shows for $149.84 (online, Chicago area) and an Interstate 51R would be $123.99 (without core charge) but only has a 36 month "prorated" warranty.

NOTE: Menards online isn't very good at telling you which size batteries are currently in stock for their automotive batteries, so you are best to just ignore it & check your closest location (for anyone with one within a reasonable distance.)

Great post! Menard's, Costco and Sam's can't be beat for price and warranty. I've purchased batteries from all three.

Expect to get just barely 3 years out of these... I just had one that tested fine 2 months ago fail with a bad cell. 3 years and 4 months, out of warranty.

Actually Costco has changed their auto battery warranty… they now give you a prorated warranty on their Interstates…. It's total BS! The mfg as a better warranty!

You mention the bag sale. I bought one of these AC Delco batteries about 3 years ago during the bag sale. I put the battery in the bag and they took off the 15%. Great deal.

why aren't car batteries LifePO4 yet

they'd last a decade, actually that's probably why
LifePO4 can't handle low temperatures for one.

One thing I will mention. When looking at my application (size 78) the Menards one is imported, and has only 83% of the CCA that the USA made batteries do from sams, wm, costco. All other specs are the same.

edit: based on this sale here and regular prices elsewhere. This one is $15 cheaper than costco and $35 less than sams/wm.

You would also need a different charging system. Lead acid is more forgiving.

both my toyota and honda batteries warranty from the dealers have been excellent... i had a bad alternator and it kept draining my battery on my toyota and destroying the battery. I've replace it 4 times within 2 1/2 years of no charge. No question asked .. same thing goes for my honda ... 72 months warranty on both and i got a new battery for my honda , twice ... from my past experience from walmart and others you be fighting with them trying to get your warranty honor... even with a reciet and pay a high pro-rated before they can even honor their warranty

The Acura dealer quoted me twice as much as Costco for the battery and the warranty was only 4 years. The last battery I got from the dealer was a replacement for the original battery that died in 3 years. The replacement also died in around that time period. Costco batteries usually last me 7 years or so.
