Loop is sooooo much better than the rubber bands. Infinite adjustments and no chafing. They also dry pretty quickly.
Edit: I was referring the Sport Loop (velcro). I didn't realize "Solo" was a new design entirely. HTH, they look very similar in the pics.

I've gotten rid of as much PFAS as possible. Zero coated pans in our household. Only stainless steel or enameled cast iron. PFAS free waterproof jacket. So on and so forth. Personally I think 3M, Dupont etc. should be literally liquidated to pay those impacted by PFAS (agriculture destroyed, water supplies destroyed, women on the early production lines who had WAY elevated rates of birth defects). The list is endless. The people who knew about this and purposefully hid it should be jailed for life, and meet a grisly end. They've destroyed lives and killed people.
HOWEVER, what data is there to support exposure (presumably through absorption) to PFAS/PFOS based on wearing these bands?
"The wristbands on these popular products might expose wearers to the harmful "forever chemicals" known as PFAS."
"But products made with this material contain toxic PFAS, known to harm health."
No sh*t. "Known to harm health" LOL. Yes, but HOW?? Ingestion is a known route of exposure (coated pans, contaminated water and food, etc.). Is simple contact also a route of exposure? Not only does EWG conveniently leave that question unanswered, they don't even ask it.
If I rub a teflon pan against myself for 8 hours/day, am I going to absorb a meaningful amount of PFAS/PFOS? I'd love to see further investigation that doesn't just confirm the presence of PFAS in these products, but goes further and tries to determines if there's actually any harm in using them.
For example: I bought a Patagonia PFAS free waterproof jacket. Not because I believe there's any risk in wearing a jacket that has PFAS based waterproofing, but on principle. Just the manufacturing of this sh*t is problematic. I get it. There's a difference between a watch band literally against your skin, versus a waterproof jacket over existing clothing (unless you're wearing inside it on your naked body).
Anyway. Thanks for sharing the story. I'm all for increasing awareness of PFAS/PFOS, as well as the criminality of the corporations who have peddled it while knowing JUST how f*cking problematic it is. But it's important not to make assumptions. Trust me, I would LOVE to know if I've been f*cking myself for ~8 years by wearing the sport bands with my watches.
