For those of you waiting on a better deal, be aware that the regular price has gone up from last year (49.99 last year vs 59.99 this year per my notes), so the same price may not happen this year. It might be a few dollars higher. I'm tired of waiting so I am getting it now.

Newegg has had a number of gift card deals in the past few months (example https://slickdeals.net/f/17897070-10-newegg-gift-card-email-delivery-5-via-newegg). I got two of them, totaling two $10 gift cards at $5 a piece. So I spent $10 on the gift cards, plus the $2.49 left over after the code, for a total of $12.49 net in my cost for the software.

I have no idea how this made front page… This price is mediocre at best…

I switched from h&r from turbo tax a few years ago. H&r charges quite a bit on efile fee. Turbotax does the same too. What one cost more for combined upfront and efile?

I don't know if there is a consensus but I switched from Turbo a while ago because it was cheaper and never looked back. Of course there was a little bit of a learning curve but nothing major. It's easy to switch. I think all you need is a pdf of last years return that you import.

I got tired of their high state efile fees a few years and found that my state (Kansas) has a free e-file on the state website. It is a little bit extra work but not much. I just finalize in H&R and retype the numbers into the state website.
