I wouldn't stay here. I've worked here for 6 years so I know. The property itself pales in comparison to other properties on Kaanapali(Sheraton, Westin, etc). The pools are subpar and the restaurant isn't very good and overpriced. The rooms were recently renovated so they could be nice but Royal Lahaina itself is far away from the kaanapali strip and the nearest mall, Whalers village. You're gonna have to either take a shuttle or walk 30 minutes to get there.

Go to the Royal Lahaina it's beautiful. I'm a flight attendant and this is once of my favorite layovers.

We've stayed there and it's the only place my family will ever consider going back to! There is NOTHING I can find that is as amazing as the ocean front cabanas! We don't care about the pool, it's steps from a picture perfect beach (which is why you go to Hawaii, no?). Would I ever stay in the tower, absolutely not. But, if you could recommend another hotel/property that has 'reasonably' priced ocean front rooms I'm all ears…

How is this place now after the wildfires in 2023? Considering going but it's location isn't ideal for visiting the national park and road to Hana with my young kids but if it's completely fine now my Airbnb reservation is more expensive and going to get canceled
Most of Front st Lahaina is still a rubble pile, but the rest of Maui has been fine for a long time now. We went last year on an already planned trip a couple months after the fire. Road to Hana was very light traffic wise it was great

no offense but all of hawaii is overpriced. It's always been that way. That's how they're able to be a "rich" island nation.
Amen....never going back .....way overpriced !

another one of those 'hawaiian deals' aka shady hotel + high prices + middle of nowhere + rude locals. Great travel option... NOT...

We went and not going back. The anti-tourist vibe is super strong in Hawaii. I get it but I'm not interested in spending my money where locals go out of their way to give you the hairy eyeball.

Because "The pools are subpar and the restaurant isn't very good and overpriced." Which is like half the value of this thing. If they're gonna gouge their money back on food and the experience is subpar, where's the slick deal?

If you want to be somewhat isolated from the crowds, risk mediocre or overpriced food, and need to walk long distance/take a Lyft to get around, you might as well AirBNB it, and for that matter, just go to the big island and pay way less for more private space.

Did my honeymoon in Hawaii and I'd bet we didnt crack $1549 in lodging fees for 9 days (5 days Big Island, 3 days Kauai, 1 day in Honolulu). All of which had kitchen space, etc.

edit: I was wrong, $1555.94 total in 10 days. Admittedly, in 2019, so add 20% for inflation since.
Prices have doubled since then and you didn't stay in Maui. Anyways not the the budget conscious if there is a budget option in Maui anymore.

No such thing as reasonably priced on Maui. Yes the tower is gross and the rooms are rundown. The cottages look new and renovated but trust me, you'll get visitors throughout the day, cockroach legs and rats. It is secluded from everywhere else if that's a positive for you.

I used to stay here regularly as a flight attendant until the Lahaina fires and I must say this is a good deal as prices at Marriott and other resorts are 600-700 per night. This is a clean and relaxing location with opportunities to snorkel near black rock, swimming, spas, and golfing. Stay here if you want to chill and relax.

My wife and I stayed here in October for 3 nights at the rate of 252.23 per night. No breakfast voucher included, but the food at the resort was not great and overpriced like the others have mentioned. As a tourist, DO NOT buy aloha shirts at their gift shop. You'd be paying more than twice the amount compared at Ross. I saw the same exact shirts at Ross in two different islands lol
That's true of everywhere that's not Ross. Ross on Maui has great beach clothes for cheap.

For anyone with kids I would highly recommend this place. I end up booking with this deal and had my three kids stay with me with no issues.

Amazing, thanks..I booked and canceled my Airbnb and ended up saving a few hundred. Question for you, did the kids get to have the buffet breakfast also?

Stayed there for 5 days in 2022. Room had musty smell. Towels were not clean. Receptionist wasn't helpful. It is kind of far from everywhere we went. Parking was expensive and had to walk a lot to get to car. They charged us a cleaning fee after we left after I asked them 5x if there's any extra charges (since costco reviews mention they hit you with bogus charges after you leave). We left room cleaner then we got it. That hotel was the only bad thing about the trip. We had partial ocean view hotel room.
