Moving on from that little tangent/rant to the drive in question, the 2tb 990 evo simply isn't that impressive of a ssd, even at $100. It's limited to sequential speeds of 5,000 MB/s / 4,200 MB/s (R/W), has decent but not incredible random 4k performance (falling off at higher queue depths), poor sustained writes, and poor efficiency for a dramless drive. The major upsides are presumed reliability due to being a samsung drive, 5yr warranty from a reputable manufacturer, and the samsung magician software (which is better than that of any other manufacturer). At $100 the 2tb 990evo isn't a bad deal per-se, but other dramless drives such as the msi spatium m482 that occasionally goes on sale at $85 are arguably a better value for $15 less. While I don't think this deal necessarily deserves to be voted down, it's definitely not amazing, and the fact this drive previously went frontpage at $130 is unfortunately just a testament to the ignorance of the people voting.
