I worked for UPS and these were the bane of my existance. Had to wheel one 500 ft uphill on a gravel driveway. One of those with stone that doesn't pack down cause they bought the wrong type of crushed stone. That was probably my worst delivery ever. And then i got up to the house, and there was one already there. Some other poor driver had to do the same thing.
the hood for these aren't to cover food ..they're for storage... restaurant grills aren't outdoors in the elements... did you really just try to make that comparison

Good deal but you'll definitely want a hood which can be bought separately for $100 so keep that in mind.

Is the hood a hard cover like on the blackstone site, or hinged lid? I can find the hard cover for $100, but not a hinged lid. Thank you.

Good deal for sure. This is about what I paid for mine with a hood about 3 years ago. I also bought the natural gas conversion kit so that I don't have to buy propane anymore and it's so worth it!

The only thing I would change is making it three times bigger... and live someplace warm in the winter so I could cook with it outdoors all year long.

Does it absolutely need a hood? Would one of the silicone griddle covers do the trick?

I get the appeal of a hood as an easy thing, a little better for storage if you don't want to cover. Restaurants with griddles never use hoods - if you need to cover the food, use a cheap aluminum basting cover.
Makes a big difference on heat retention and also helps containt grease splatter. It's not absolutely necessary no but it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Does this come with the gas line? It shows it in one picture, but doesn't list it?

Thanks. I'm getting this to go with the grill. Reviews are favorable.

if you dont want wild life crawling all over your cooking surface a cover is a good way to keep them off. If you dont mind some raccoon hair in your food and the crap on there feet mixed in with your meal then sure you dont need a cover. The cover is for storage not cooking.

I think water would easily get under the silicone and you would have issues with rust. At the very least would grab a cover for the blackstone
