I have a different Cyberpower model, about 12 years old with similar specs, looks very similar minus the USB ports. Never replaced the batteries. I figured since it never started beeping with a low battery notification, they were still good, but I was very suspicious. Recently the power went out (it's rare where I am) and, sure enough, everything shut off. Batteries are dead. But when the power came back on, everything started back up and the batteries show full charge.

Anyway, I replaced the batteries and it seems to be working now on battery when the power goes off. I set a calendar reminder to do it again in 4 years. But just a heads up -- I know a lot can change in newer models in a decade+ time, but right off the bat I wouldn't trust this to give you a warning when the batteries start to go.

I bought two of these about 5 years ago. 1 died 6 months ago, needs new battery. The other actually burned up inside (lots of plastic smoke smell). I only had 4 things plugged into it, one a router. After that, I realized i rather have a decent surge protector instead of this. It could have turned into a fire and that's scary.

This exact model or similar model?

There were news of fire hazard on some models a few years ago.

Do you know if you have ARC breakers in your electrical panel? I thought an ARC breaker is supposed to stop those kind of things. I guess it won't protect if it's a slow (low voltage) burn?

Prob not exact model if it's 5 years old.

Bought this from Costco in June of 2024 for $130. No issues, I'm not a techie by any means, but with the recent fires in Socal, we went through multiple brownouts and this kept my pc on. No issues.

Are there any well priced UPS that utilize LFP battery VS FLA?

Would Love to have a UPS that allowed the user to BYO LFP , is there a good place to ask for availability of a specific UPS product?

Had 2 of these cyberpower units fail, love the utility, but need to look for a a better product.

I went with GoldenMate lithium model for $170. It's doesn't need batteries replacement and uses a highly regarded LifePo+ battery.

You can buy almost any Ecoflow product and get a "fast enough" switching time of <30ms - never been able to get it to fail to switch.

LiFePo4 units make these lead acid units completely obsolete. For the small number of things they're better at - the lead acid battery's really short lifespan leaves you with a unit that may only last 2-3 mins by the time you actually need it. They don't handle sitting idle very gracefully - compared with LiFePo4

The only thing you won't get (from where I'm standing) is USB connectivity that can gracefully initiate a shutdown. But I personally have opted for getting a big-ass battery bank that can run my server rack for 6-10 hours and if I'm out of power for THAT long, I can power it down myself. Never lost power for that long, ever.

I have a small network stack running on an Ecoflow River 2 Pro - works great as a UPS. Have a network rack running on an Oukitel P5000 (5kWh) without issue either

I had a similar experience and live in similarly rare outages. My unit was a smaller one and I thought it was so odd there was never a warning to replace the battery after so many years. I don't recall if I checked its usefulness by unplugging it or not, but I must have because I ultimately trashed it.
