I need something a bit stronger or a bit cheaper but this looks like a decent price for this model.

Past sales were almost 100 less, so this is not a great deal.

That said, I've had a pulsar inverter generator like this one for over a decade now and it's saved us through multiple ice storms, hurricanes and other lengthy periods of power outage. Most recently hurricane Helene. In what has to be 500+ hours of use, I never replaced the spark plug or even cleaned it until recently and only ever changed the oil twice. Very impressed with their generators.

What/how much can you connect to this? I'm in LA and had to deal with power outages and borrowed a generator. It's made me realize I need one of my own--I'm a single mom and don't know the first thing about this stuff. This is the first I'm learning you have to clean it or change the oil....spark plugs make sense though Smilie

The one I used was very loud, but I was able to connect our fridge, space heater and lamp to it.

You might be better off with a battery solution. Those are relatively maintenance free but you typically pay 3x the price of a gas powered alternative.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into this!

Battery solutions only work until the battery lasts. Gas/propane generators can be simply refilled for however long you need them to run. This is better. I have 3 quite large 1024wh ecoflows and they can't really do much except charge phones and laptops for two or three days. A lot of people used generators like these to power their pressure washers to spray the fires in LA. I was going to get one for the same purpose. May have a bit of a learning curve but I'm sure YouTube has plenty of videos.

To keep your electronics charged get a battery power station. For higher wattage loads this is better.

Price dropped to 472 at Home Depot now.

Are pulsars reliable? I've been looking nonstop on FB marketplace for used RYOBI 4000/2300 and even predator 3500/5000 units.

I believed the one you used was conventional gen. Conventional gens are loud and use much more gas. This is inverter gen. Much quiter and uses much less gas.

Gen & battery. They haves pro & cons as someone already pointed out above. Gen need more maintenance like, changing sparks, oil change, not often though, only when using, and stocking gas.

For the batteries, how to recharge when you used up all the juice? And they can only use with lower watts loads unless you get bigger batteries but then the cost would be alot. I have two 2000w inverter gens and small battery for emergency. The battery I can recharge when using the gens. I also am stocking 10 gal of gas and rotate out every 6 months.

I live in S.Cal too. Good luck to you.
