So, if you're near a Microcenter, I'd say the Lenovo LOQ 4050 is the better laptop at this price. 300nits, 100% sRGB screen. Better CPU, 1TB SSD, and better manufacturer.

Is this better than the asus vivobook s14 that is also on sale at this price? don't really need a laptop for gaming just intense web browsing
The VivoBook is a far better option if you're not gaming much. The VivoBook's Arc graphics can even do a little gaming, though it won't perform as well in games as this laptop. Also, you cannot upgrade the RAM in the VivoBook. If your intense web browsing involves opening hundreds of tabs in Chrome, you might benefit from 32+GB RAM. This Acer supports up to 64GB RAM, and has two m.2 slots for SSDs.
But other than that the VivoBook is better all around. Better battery life, way better screen, better CPU, thinner.

just wanting to look up the specs on my laptop screen
Manufacturers do sometimes list these numbers, but they aren't always truthful on the screen specs, you'll need to check professional reviews. Notebookcheck is a great source for this:
Why would anyone want this for competitive gaming? I'd get this for other things other than competitive gaming.
It is a gaming laptop. If someone doesn't have a lot of money available(maybe they're a student), but plays LoL, Rocket League, Valorant, DoTA, CS:Go, Fortnight, etc... competitively, they might be considering this laptop. The RTX 4050 is perfectly capable of running those games at high framerates. Other similarly spec'd low-cost gaming laptops would be fine options, provided the screen response time is faster.

Edit: the screen also has very slow response time, 25-35ms. Not good for competitive gaming.

Low color range, not very bright.
You can game on the screen, but colors won't be very vibrant, and it isn't very bright. Up to you how much you care about that.
