I believe this repeatedly out of stock, and marked up on sites like eBay because of this. I have a regular disc PS5, so I haven't been on the market and I'm just going off of comments I have read

i was so worried about pairing my ps5 pro xmas present with one of these drives... used hotstock app and got one before xmas.... and yet I havent even used the drive once. wanted flexibility to be able to play old ps4 games and to buy cheap disc games if on sale.

They haven't had trouble selling the Pro nor the disk drive. There is no reason to lower price and they won't for awhile as Sony is enjoying a profit straight off with the Pro. It's for the enthusiast PlayStation player and it's to play their games the best they can be played on console.
