Do not buy this. I have Gen 1 and it has a defect. They don't charge consistently. There were all sorts of problems you can read about. It's not even fast charging or Qi2 compatible, so while the price is great it is very unreliable.

From what I've seen the gen 1 had a very widespread bug of charging issues that needed a firmware update and you had to get a specific cable from mophie? Wonder if they've fixed that.

I got the upgrade kit which looks like a usb drive and mine still has the issues. Luckily I got it for free from work so at least no loss there.

This device is atrocious. Do not buy it. Unreliable. I was so embarrassed- I have one and got one for a relative and they both started failing (usb firmware update notwithstanding). The gift recipient was just like "oh… yea it's not really working."

Hmm the firmware update fixed my charging problem a year or two ago and it is still working well for me. YMMV

Nope, you have to place a (free) order on their website and they ship you a mini usb drive with the firmware on it. Absurd.

To add a dissenting opinion: I have one of these and love it. Fantastic charger setup.

I did install the FW update before even using mine, though. I can understand those who suffered through it before the fix aren't pleased.
