So these at $100 will likely be better than $40 offerings from Sony/JBL (not sure which ones you're looking at). Will your kid notice the difference? Doubtful. (But they'll probably love this design if they're a Minecraft fan)
The better question is how these stack up against headphones in a similar price bracket, which at $100 would be a few options including the JLab Lux. People really like the JLabs (and they offer ANC), and they're only $80.
Again, will your kid notice a difference? Doubtful. Either buy them the cheap crap cause they're a kid and you can replace it, or get them the Minecraft one because they're a Minecraft fan.

The Solo 4 have USBC. (I think the Solo 3 did as well).
