I received 15% off a laptop when I opened my Military Star card last year, so I think 20% off is excellent for big purchases like TVs, computers, or furniture, especially since there's no tax.
I've heard you can close the account after a few months, open a new one, and receive the new account bonus again, but I didn't bother.

which is huge if you need a TV, A sound system, etc. It also gives you 2 cents in the dollar rewards, and 4 cents at the Holidays. I've saved so much money having this card.

EDIT: Also, this card was designed for people with no or poor credit. AAFES can go directly to DFAS and get their money if you use the Star Card and don't pay.
i live near a resv base that recently had the px shut down, i hated getting those GCs because i could never use them since our store sucked balls with inventory.
also fyi the px price matches. I picked up some hella heavily discounted electronics doing this.
