Also, the poster is newish so might not know this, but "$ off" or "% off" posts aren't done here because they're not useful. It doesn't mean anything, and those offers are often deceptive.

At least one of the prices should be in the title and in the post. So it may be how the post was done, and the fact that it wasted a lot of peoples time, as much as this specific deal

I used deluxe with a home based business and also buying & selling stock.
TT Deluxe may tell you while entering info you should upgrade to Premier. Just ignore and proceed with Deluxe

This Costco offer for TurboTax Deluxe + State at $45 ($56-$11) is essentially the same as the Amazon offer in the link from last year but includes a $10 TurboTax credit (e.g. to e-file state taxes) instead of a $10 gift card.

How much you want to bet that Amazon posts its sale the day Costco's offer goes live.

Looks like Amazon is matching as other posters speculated.

Do you have investment property? If so, would love to know how you get by using only Deluxe (not Premier). If you don't, then I won't challenge your comment.
Yes, have investment property. There's a whole section available in Deluxe that walks you through Income from Rentals or Royalty Property You Own. This will help you fill out Schedule E. They do have a prompt to have you upgrade to Premier when you start this section, but you don't need to. Premier is supposed to provide Extra guidance or Step By Step guidance. I've found that stuff to not be necessary and you should be able to proceed in Deluxe and fill out most of the schedule through the prompts you get in Deluxe.

Does Deluxe handle home sales, rental properties and crypto?
Deluxe handles Rental Properties, I use it for that. There is a section for handling home sales, but I haven't used it in several years. I don't have Crypto, but the Investment Income section has Crypto clearly on there. The place where you have your Crypto may have direct download of the statements into TurboTax or you can enter transactions manually.

Can you please tell me how much it'd cost to upgrade to Premier if it later turns out I need it? TYIA.
Upgrading from desktop version of Deluxe to Premier in app is +$35 ($15 more than today's $20 difference). For Deluxe to H&B is +$50.

In the online version to upgrade is mandatory for certain filings but desktop has the same forms in all versions. Upload via CSV file isn't available in Deluxe. Q&A walkthrough is more detailed in higher level versions.

I used the desktop version of Deluxe and did crypto filling just fine.
Were you able to upload transactions or did you enter manually? My understanding is that Premier or H&B is required to upload CSV files and crypto transaction upload is via CSV in TT desktop. I read you need to use online to connect directly to an exchange like Coinbase to directly import transactions. There appear to potentially be some workarounds for uploading transactions into Deluxe but I haven't tried any yet.

Could this be cheaper in-store?

I doubt it will even be instore since they don't use CDs anymore.

Here's the partner list for TT imports:

I use Deluxe to import from my brokerage firm.

Yes, still in store because people buy stuff while they're there. Same at Target, Best Buy, etc. But there's no CD - just a box with a code. Price is the same I think though.

What is the difference between using the software versus the browser?
This explains it: https://thefinancebuff.com/tax-so...sktop.html
tl;dr - desktop version is more powerful and the deluxe desktop does basically everything an individual would need.

Is home and business the only option that can do small business? If I have rental and minimal schedule C deduction, will premier or even deluxe be enough? TIA
Depends who the business is structured. Schedules C & E are covered in deluxe though. Very little advantage of premier over deluxe (added "guidance"), but not sure what H&B adds.

Cash App Taxes is a great return software too. Having used TurboTax for decades, I decided to use Cash App Taxes 2 years ago since it was free. It supports stocks and it's free to file both federal and state for all 50 states. Recommend trying if you haven't, it guides you with questions like TurboTax and you can do it on the PC.

Can the Deluxe version handle rental income/loses and various depreciation schedules if I used the Premier version the last few years and now decided to use the Deluxe version? Will it import and maintain the depreciation schedules going forward?

This is the best explanation of the the differences between the two versions. Thank you!

Thanka for sharing. I am in a similar situation plus a rental property. What tips the scale toward premier?
