5G internet is not the same as 5GHz. A number of ISPs using 5G to provide home internet don't have IPv4 support, and there's a lot of security cameras out there that still use IPv4 and havent migrated to IPv6.

5GHz is a frequency on your home wireless router, and has no connection to 5G, which is a cellphone internet protocol.

I own LaView cameras and none of them support 5GHz.

Order 2 - had to do 2 separate orders to get coupons and code to work.

Have to use them on a 2.4Ghz wifi.

I've had great luck with my LaView Cameras - I plan to use this next to a bird feeder!

Laview is a horrible company. I went all in a few years ago on a wired NVR 4K setup and they never released a single firmware update. Then they decided to drop all wired products to basically compete with euphy. Zero support.

I was working under an assumption the reviewer meant 5GHz. Your comment tends to support that assumption.

Be careful with LaView that you know which oem they white labeled. Similar situation- installed an 8-cam Ethernet Poe system and NVR about 5 years ago, and the compatible mobile app LaView Now hasn't been updated in about that long. The iOS 18 update completely broke all functionality except live view (so no playback, downloading recordings, etc.) and with years since an app update I thought I was going to have to buy a new NVR at least, but thankfully I found another iOS app that can access the NVR (RxCamView).

Given what I know now I'd probably be looking for a different manufacturer for a fully local solution that would be more likely to continue to release app and security firmware updates.

No. The reviewer is calling out an issue with IPv4 support missing. No routers today exclusively support 5GHz.

Haha, fair enough! So many people get 5G and 5GHz mixed up that I always flip a coin as to which they mean.

I have their other screw-in camera that works really well and clear. My only concern as a previous user mentioned is the support and updates they'll provide for their products. I had the one camera for months now and I don't recall doing one single update. The cameras are nice and they work well, but I am extremely concerned for their support and updates.
