Why are you saying this? It's the opposite, they are selling overstocked motherboards and memory by bundling them with a highly sought after CPU
The 299 bundle is great place to start a new build. A 4060/7700 XT (or even a 4070) would be a great pairing for a pretty sick sub-1000 PC
What?? They are doing this because the 9800x3d is selling like hotcakes and they can get rid of crappy MOBOs and RAM kits by bundling it to customers who dont know what they're buying

In their defense they work with the manufacturer boards to provide bulk mobos for a discounted price and it's not up to Microcenter to pick which board is available. I found this out when I asked their manager why they don't offer similar discounts for m-atx boards of the same type. I have 4 PCs that need upgrading but I like the small form factor cases and manager said he could provide a courtesy and only let me return 1 of the mobo combos but he couldn't allow me to do all 4.

I got the MSI X670E MAG Tomahawk, lol why does it suck? Been pretty good so far and I've had it since Nov
Same, the tomahawk is a good board. Confused by the nonsense FUD in this thread.

9800x3d discouny deals should be coming soon since the 9950x3d will be launching soon and will be the new toy for everyone to upgrade. Whoever needed the 9800x3d already fomo into it. I have 5 microcenter in 20 miles radium and all of them still show 25+ 9800x3d in stock since 5 days ago. Before it would be gone withing half a day.
That's because MC doesn't allow any online purchase of these chips. They also limit #. You have to buy in store. Every outlet that sells online is totally OOS of these last I saw.

Because the cpu degraded itself and the old owner wants to get rid of it.

I talked myself out of moving up to the 9800X3D around BF but the more modeling and CAD work I do, the more I want to make the jump from my i7-10700. Might be fun to start the build and see if I can pick up a 50 series in a couple of weeks.
If you're doing that stuff you should get the 9900 9950x3d instead

Usually w/these combos you can manually swap the mobo's/ram and keep the discount but pay the difference. The default mobo picks are usually pretty bad.
Our Microcenter doesn't allow for any flexibility with these bundles. I've tried to negotiate substitutions on other boards and combos and it never works. It always gets shot down by a manager

I'm doing a 4070 super build. I had some leftover am4 items and picked up a 5700x3d. Worried about a bottleneck should I just go with this?

Please stop recommending a 4060. It is not a good card and there are plenty of other options better in the price range. We are seeing major issues with people running modern games on a 4060 b/c of its VRAM limitations.
If you really want to get something solid to compete with a 4060 get a 6750 XT, 3060 ti, 6800 XT, or a 7800 XT if budget stretches.
Otherwise, hold off until AMD reviews come out for this gen.

Here is my benchmark run with this combo and an RTX 3080. No complaints other than the motherboard only has 4 SATA ports

Bought this bundle with the 7800X3d for my son this past summer. ZERO issues with the MB.

Lol that's what I'm thinking, still 25+ here and there's only one store in this entire state.

I wouldn't expect a significant discount on a cpu that hasn't been out 3 months yet.
