Selling for the full $800 at Crutchfield and it's a Class A/B amplifier, as well. I was just looking at an AV forum where somebody bought a refurb RX-A2A for $600 in 2023 and another person sold a used one for $649 in 2024. So, brand new for $400 in 2025 seems like a damn good deal. Probably deserves more TU's than the deal currently is getting.
good deal but i would get at least the A4A for full 4k/120 hdmi bandwidth

Did you get the free HDMI board replacement from Yamaha or did yours already have a board from Autumn 2021 or later?
I don't know for sure. I bought it in 2024 but that doesn't guarantee it had the updated board. I returned it in the window and didn't try to get it repaired. The Denon was manufactured in 2024 and was guaranteed by many people to work with consoles and I had constant video dropouts with the Series X. I don't know if my TV doesn't play well with these receivers or what but it is frustrating to have all these issues. I'm sticking with direct to TV for now. I only need 5.1 audio so ARC to an old receiver gets the job done.

I got it and can confirm that the unit I received has the HDMI board replacement (asterisk next to the firmware version). Excellent deal. Thanks OP.

Given the X1700H has full 4k/120 hdmi, isn't it the clear choice for the same price?

It's the same though isn't it? Only 3 inputs do 4k120 per denon website

So I've read they had issues early with hdmi 2.1, but even after issuing a firmware fix this is still capped at 24 gbits for 4k120.... I think I will pass

could you tell me where to find this? is it in the software which i'd have to navigate with the remote on my tv, or is it physically on the unit somewhere?

On the front display of your AV receiver, if the firmware shows an asterisk " * " next to the firmware version, your unit has the latest, up-to-date HDMI board and will NOT benefit from sending it in.

I had the same issue with the video dropping on an XSX and a Denon X1700H. The fix was to go into the receiver's settings and update the input to 8K enhanced (4K 120Hz) signal.

I just got the Sony STR-AN1000. Haven't had much chance to play with it, but it was really easy to set up. Sounds great so far, better than my old Marantz. Does this Yamaha have a better sound. I care more about the sound quality than the features. I mainly use it for big sport games and movies. I use it in a home theater with projector screen.

I did this and it did not fix it for me. Indiana Jones was one title that had constant 1-2 second video dropouts. Direct to the TV it worked perfectly. Couldn't ever figure it out.
