Same price at sam's club and Costco though you get $10 in-product credit instead. Can be used towards e-file fee.
Amazon matched Costco deal for $64.99 for turbotax premium 2024 with $10 GC

So what's the benefits of Premier?
I've been using Deluxe for nearly 2 decades and have both stocks and a rental property. I sold some vacant land a few years ago too. Deluxe has always managed it just fine. I _think_ the only difference is Premier has more descriptive help / guidance around some of these things. But as it is, the dialogs in Deluxe has always walked me through just fine and shown all the fields I needed.

Which offer did you get? I don't think either of the offers I got are applicable this year

I got spend $39 to get $20 back on two cards, and spend $25 to get $5 back on one card

Since the state e-file is $20 with the deluxe, I can't even use the cheaper offer.

Past years it used to be spend $20 to get $10 back. That was useful.

This year they've totally neutered it. It's useless.
In past years the state e-file has been $25 so you could use the $5 back offer. Are you sure it's $20?

I've only filed the TurboTax online version in the past, will my saved info from last year be automatically loaded into the PC version?

No! That's the issue I ran into a few years ago. Luckily Costco online accepted my return right away. For whatever reason Intuit doesn't allow the mixed compatibility of online previous filing to be migrated to the downloaded registry key filings.

Yes Deluxe does. TT is trying to upgrade us. If rental property or crypto you will need premier

Why would Premier be "needed" for crypto? What specifically do you need premier for? Is the issue being able to import transactions? Or with TurboTaxes help with filling out the forms?

If you only have a couple crypto sales, can't you enter the info on form 8949 and Schedule D manually in Deluxe?

$25 - state each e-file (it's not included)
$45 - extra state download

Most people don't need to buy premier or home business. Deluxe has all forms you need. I saw this comment and didn't believe it but I bought this morning and it's true. I have rental property, investments and Deluxe works fine.

deluxe is fine for active trading. just not crypto

Why is deluxe a problem for crypto if you only have a few sales? What does premier desktop do for crypto that deluxe desktop doesn't?

The primary difference I have found is that you need Premier or H&B to upload CSV files which is the suggested way to import crypto trades into TurboTax desktop. (You need TurboTax online to import directly from the crypto exchange like Coinbase. You can't do that in any desktop version per TurboTax's support page.)

You can definitely import from online into the desktop/download version. I did it years ago when I switched over.

This might help: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/transfer-last-y... [intuit.com]

The problem is when you have several stock trades to import from brokerages. Would you be able to automatically import stock transactions from brokerages into FreeTaxUSA? That's ONE of the reasons why people stick with TurboTax, imo. Also, I used H&R Block before but they have a stupid limit of # of stock transactions and if you are an active trader with tons of trades to import, H&R Block crapped out and this was 2 years ago (2021). Then, I switched to TurboTax from 2022 and I can import any number of stock trades from different brokerages... no problem!
You can just enter your gain/losses in aggregate. Takes a couple of minutes at most. I have accounts at MS and Fidelity. Auto import is nice, but it's it a $45 feature? Not for me.

Yes, Costco deal better if 1) you prefer email delivery vs Amazon truck delivery 2) you want to efile state (to use $10 product credit)
Disagree. Amazon deal for TT Deluxe is Fed PLUS STATE with $10 Amazon gift card as separate item. Costco net price for Deluxe is Fed only (so $10 'credit' goes towards State filing), and $2 more than Amazon deal w/gift card (Net $34.99 Fed/State vs Costco's $36.99 Fed only).

Can you import Intuit data? I think that's what keeps a lot of us in the Intuit family, ability to import everything from last year. If you're expecting to pay, or get little back, it makes sense to save every dime. I pay a small fortune in taxes, just to make sure I don't owe.

Yes you can import your pdf tax returns from TurboTax.
