i think the essential factor to a lot of people is the kindle screen.

im not a heavy reader so screen doesn't matter much to me. my issue is that I can only read for 5 min max on my mac/iphone/ipad, and then get easily distracted by other apps/alerts. but i can focus on reading when using kindle. i think im probably not alone. although i prefer 7" screen size.

for people who take notes frequently while reading, i agree this is a good option.
E-ink display.
I've been using my Scribe daily since it came out. I love it. I take notes, draw, and mostly read. I would say if you are looking for an e-reader first and a note-taking device 2nd, this is it. The e-reader stuff has honestly been great with all the upgrades. I can't go back to reading without having the ability to write on pages and annotate.

I'm not trying to come in and poo poo on a deal, but my proceeding question is out of genuine curiosity.

Would it not be better to buy one of the tablets from Lenovo that are even cheaper and can do more than just read book? Or an iPad for only a hundred more?

I use mine to read Manga. It's fantastic for that, if a little bit of work to get everything onto it and formatted right. The 64 gb model is a requirement though if you do that, 16 gb is not enough.

No that is a fair question, e-ink screen and battery life is the reason why I love this thing so much. Zero eye strain when reading, works perfectly outdoors in direct sunlight and has backlit light with warm light settings for night in bed. I own a ipad min and ipad m2 pro and do all my reading on my kindle because of the display. The easiest way I can describe it is reading on a computer screen vs reading a physical book, that's the level of eye strain it saves me. Best part it's super light so my heavy 1k page books can be read in the comfort of the device instead of carrying a big book around.

How does that work for you? I read online that's it's slow for internet performance. And I read mostly manhwa and manhua (because it's colored unlike manga)

I assume kindle is black and white only?

Don't forget the 20% off when sending in an old kindle.
Just bought this deal a couple of days ago sending in my $15 Kindle I bought of of mercari for the 20% off. Seems like a great deal but I'll see about the functionality when it arrives. Not really an amazon fan and was trying to decide between this or the Kobo elipsa 2 but for $210 I couldn't resist.

I use mine regularly and I haven't seen any ads on it.
