This is a pretty decent deal on these - not lowest of all time but I don't see that they've been on sale for a while now.

I like these because they are mid-priced but have all the features I was looking for including a 3.5mm jack which is preferred in travel situations where it's necessary on most airplanes to plug into their entertainment systems.

Thanks for posting OP. I need a pair specifically for eliminating background noise for phone calls, anyone have any experience with these and how they perform in comparison to the Sony wh-1000xm5? Thank you in advance

The Sony WH-CH720N handle background noise decently, though not as well as the Sony WH-1000XM5, which has superior mic and noise-cancelling tech for phone calls. If you're looking for top-notch call quality, the XM5 might be worth the extra cost.

No noise canceling tech to date can totally block out a crying baby. They are effective at blocking low tones but not high tones.

FYI No price match with Best Buy since it's not shipped and sold by Amazon. Was hoping for the price match to buy it for my kid. Just bought the cheaper on ear version for $30 but I think over ear is more comfortable for long term use.

have you used both on an airplane? I'm debating getting the 720N as I really only care about airplane engine noise and similar. I used to have a Bose QC25, but those got wet and died. I wouldn't mind the pricetag of the 720N if it got wet. I felt pretty bad when my QC25's died from knocking a drink on it.

Got a refurbished pair on eBay awhile back for 60$ from a reputable place. The noise cancellation is pretty minimal on these. Audio is great. Noise cancellation is very subtle. Would not get these if you main focus is to block out noise.

I haven't tested the WH-CH720N on an airplane but they do a decent job with lower-frequency sounds like engine noise, though not at the level of the WH-100XM5 or Bose QC Series.If durability is a concern, the 720N could be a good budget-friendly option for travel, especially since replacing them wouldn't hurt as much if they got wet from knocking a drink on them.

Totally blocking out a crying baby might not be possible but pairing the noise cancellation with some music or white noise usually works quite well in those situations

Yes, but there's close and will do nothing. Since these are so cheap, I was wondering if these are in either camp. If it does ok paired with, say, a sound machine app, like my galaxy buds pro but are more comfortable, I'd pull the trigger since the headphone jack is appealing. But otherwise, should I go for something like the XM4s/5s?

These headphones sit at a weird place in Sony's range IMO. They aren't that cheap, and the noise cancelling isn't that good either. Personally, I would spring the extra $50 for some refurb (or new if you are lucky) XM4s which have significantly better noise cancelling. If you don't care about noise cancelling then you shouldn't buy these either.
