Is it worth to upgrade to DDR5 if building new PC? I'm thinking at $46 for 32GB of ram building DDR4 still seems more optimal.

Love PNY hardware. High quality components always at a great price. Also, one of the few remaining American companies left in the industry. Currently use an XLR8 rtx 4070 and it's been amazing.

It depends what platform you're going with. If your PC budget is at least 750 or so, go with one of the current platforms like AMD AM5 and it will require DDR5.

If you're building on a lower budget system using AMD AM4 then that supports DDR4.

DDR5 prices are not much more 32GB 6000 CL30 kit for $74.99

These usually can run at 3600 CL16 if set voltage to 1.4v

I have the 32GB PNY 3600 CL18 kit it uses Hynix chips i run it at 3600 CL16 1.4v on Intel

DDR4 is going to essentially go EOL shortly - and will be harder to procure in a year or two. So if you will look to add more memory in 2026 or later, it will be hard to procure. My guess is that only CXMT will be available down the road.

DDR5 is more expensive, but will be coming down in cost, and will be available for quite a while.

Recently, there have been more expensive deals for 32GB DDR4 3600, CL16 kits. I'd spend a little more for the increased performance you'll get over this 3200 kit.

only 3 companies make ram, the names on them are meaningless for the most part. one of the 3 i listed probably has tighter timing even though they are all "16" cas latency
