Not everyone that fails their drivers test is a teen. Kinda dumb to put a age limit on it when this could actually help people but gotta get those kids meta data somehow

Remember back in the 80s/90s when we were told NOT to get in random cars with strangers?

Okay, I cracked up when I saw the title. But so many thoughts/questions came to mind.
  • A couple of years ago the age limit to ride alone was 18, has that changed?
    • Then again I see that this is called "Teen Account." I initially thought that was just a description, but I guess it's actually a special type of account that's age based. So maybe this is their way of advertising it.
    • I could also see getting people who used Uber in the past knowing the rider was under 18, but now signing up for Teen Accounts, in Uber's favor.
      • The most obvious being metadata and connecting the teen to other people (whoever's account they used previously).
      • And in a greedy corporate way by potentially holding they fact that they used it previously against the teen or their parent/guardian in the future for violating policy (fixable by additional fees of course).
  • Will admitting to failing their driver's test have an effect with driving for Uber in the future -- say, a probationary period with reduced pay???
    • Though I don't see anything in the terms about showing proof failing or even the requirement to have failed at all
      • -- so could just be clever marketing. It gets the attention, plus it also limits who even tries.

If they had this when I was a teen, in that day and age, it would feel like a Ride of Shame.

It was for me 🤣 I had owned my car at 15. I still ran a stop sign because It was a new area an i was probably more worried about messing up than looking at the road. I felt like such a failure cause I never do that. I couldn't learn manual with other people around too. Went out by myself an drove off.
