I currently have one of those those you plug into the 12v outlet and it takes about 4-5 min per tire, I don't mind it and it's worked flawlessly for a few years now but just curious if this would be quicker
Mine did break, however. The tire inflator prt doesn't work but the high volume side does. Inter webs say a capacitor or something is bad.

That's what I learned at University after spending 50k for 4 years. College is overated. Save your money & spend it on trade school for 20k is slick deal indeed.

I have a Type I, was considering swapping it to a Type 2, but for my use case there's not much benefit.

I have the dewalt compressor for my 18" (245/60R18) ford explorer. I just put 13psi into one tire that has a slow leak... took about 3min with a fully charged 2Ah battery. Other tires were down a couple psi.. didn't take long, maybe 30sec? I wasn't timing.. just did it a few days ago, so from memory.
If you want fast, get a M18 Milwaukee.

Oh, regarding your current 12v pump. If you haven't had engine running while inflating, do so. The pump will run noticeably faster... 12+ vs 14+volts
check min mark 7:21 for speed comparison.
