Had this saw for a while and its scary with the jerky start. I was never able to get slider to get me straight 90 cut so ended up using it as fixed saw. There is a reason these go on clearance from time to time.
I bought this around 5 years ago, it's a very basic low-quality Chinese saw on par with something like Wen or the lowest level at Harbor Freight. It's a good price for what it is, but don't expect to be impressed. The laser light lasted about 2-3 hours of use. The fence and blade angles to not stay aligned. There's no soft-start/stop. It cuts and the motor has decent power for what it is.

Hell of a deal. Dual bevel would make it BIN for any homeowner. Currently debating if this one feature is worth an extra $100 as my old miter broke a few months back.

If I had not previously gotten a great deal on an 18V Ryobi Compound Miter, I would buy this.

Seems like a great deal for the features. I have a non sliding Delta, that has been used heavily and is probably due for a replacement.

Only consistant ding I see in reading the reviews is the battery powered laser (vs permenant power source). Seem odd that it is battery powered, my old Delta 10" has a laser that runs off the main power, so I don't need to worry about shutting it off to save battery life.

Calibrate your miter.saw like everybody else. Most will come out the box calibrated, but you should check anyway, and periodically check as well. Especially if you're had it for 5 years.

Could others report whether or not they successfully set this up for square, accurate, sliding cuts?

Thanks for the advice, but unlike other saws, this one won't stay square for 5 cuts. There is too much flex in the arm - the bearings are OK, but you can easily flex the arm just by drawing the blade out.

These things suck. Jerky starts, inaccurate measurements you can't adjust, just not worth it unless you're using it for chopping 2x4s or something.

I also bought one of those. Was supposed to arrive yesterday but is "delayed". Hopefully the box didn't bust open and the saw magically walked away. HD tends to ship Ryobi tools in plain packaging lol

YouTube review says it doesn't lock in accurate at 0 degrees; could be a deal breaker for those who demand accuracy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRYUNnv5NwU
