Because it's a fully recyclable carton. As opposed to plastic. But yeah, it could be mistaken for a milk carton. Ask me how I know :-)

Loved the idea of less plastic packaging, but 2 out of 3 cartons leaked out of the bottom corners. They are meant to be transferred to a leakproof container. The detergent itself worked fine, but not worth the hassle to me.
