Not a bad laptop, but that hard is getting a bit dated. It's pretty low power and efficient. For a cheap/light web browsing laptop, this might not be bad, but I feel like there's probably better options out there for the price range.
ACEMAGIC/ACEMAGICIAN have had a bad run a while back allegedly with bundling malware or something - so if you buy this, please consider a clean OS install. With that said, I own an ACEMAGICIAN 5800U mini PC to run as a small server and it works great.

+1, they were bundling a customized/non-standard version of Google Chrome with their Windows installation - I bought the Acemagician AD15 ~1mo ago and it did come with this odd bundled Chrome. My intent was to put Linux on it, so this didn't give me too much pause.
I do hope that's the extent of the malware/badness on these, and there isn't something floating around lower level, e.g. in UEFI or device firmware.

I would really like to buy this, but I keep reminding myself of my experience with Gateway, it falling apart 1-1/2 months after the warranty expired. It may be fine, and the company may be fine, providing customer service if needed, however, I am just going to limit myself to HP or Acer or Asus or Lenovo & such. Repped on price for the Dr.

My sister bought an HP laptop a few years ago, and a month out of warranty a display hinge failed and broke through the case so the display was just flopping around on one hinge. HP said she could pay something like $850 to have it repaired, so she bought a new HP instead. It died 3 months out of warranty, just wouldn't turn on. She doesn't buy HP anymore, though I think she learned that lesson one laptop too late.

I have 2-HP laptops. 1 about 5-6 years old, & no problems with either. One thing I have learned w/ certainty is that no brand is immune from problems. It seems these "no-name" brands have them moreso in my experience.

Saw a few youtube videos back then and reddit post.
I believe some mentioned a clean OS doesn't remove it so it could be hardware embedded on some if not all?

Efficient, yes. Low power, not really. 5825U is still a pretty powerful processor and is more than sufficient for office and productivity work which this laptop is aimed for.

You can get years old ThinkPads off eBay but they'd all be refurbs. And some other brands but most likely with 8GB RAM.
For something in new condition this is the closest you'll get at this price point.
