TRADE-IN OVERVIEW
SAMSUNG TRADE-IN PROGRAM TERMS/CONDITIONS [samsung.com]
SAMSUNG TRADE-IN FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS [samsung.com]
Overview:
If Samsung is processing trade-ins like prior deals, you will receive instructions by email--along with a prepaid shipping label--around the time your new phone arrives. You can also print the label from your online Samsung account.
You will send in the phone only (no boxes, chargers, SIMs, cases, etc.). Phone must be factory reset and have no passwords or locks. Good practice: Make a VIDEO and take photos of the phone, including showing some functions, to prove the condition if Samsung challenges you after inspecting the phone.
Common questions...
My phone has scratches [or burn in or faulty Bluetooth or fill in the blank]. Will Samsung accept the phone? Will the trade in amount be reduced? According to the FAQ, "Your device must have no breaks, cracks, or other defects that go beyond normal wear and tear." Is your issue normal wear and tear?
When/how will I get instructions for trading in my phone? Samsung will send you an email with the subject "Welcome to the Samsung Trade-In Program." The email will arrive anywhere from the day the phone ships to a few days after the phone arrives. It includes a link to download a pre-paid shipping label. You have 15 days from receipt of the email to ship the trade in. You can also get the shipping label for the trade in from your online Samsung account under order details.
Two commonly asked questions about financed and leased phones:
1. The device I'm trading in is one that I bought using an equal payment or other financing plan, and I still have payments left on it. Can I still trade it in?
Yes – however, please note that all remaining payments on the device you're trading in are your responsibility. You may also be subject to additional fees. Check with your current carrier for details.
2. I lease my device. Can I trade it in?
No – leased devices are not eligible for this Trade-In Promotion unless you purchase the leased device from your carrier before trading it in. Check with your carrier for details.
SALES TAX
Samsung charges sales tax based on your State's requirements. Some States charge sales tax on the pre trade-in price, other States after the trade-in is applied. This is not Samsung playing games.

Samsung reported that they received an empty box, when they were supposed to have received my Galaxy phone. They initially clawed-back the trade-in value.
Fortunately, it all worked out. They were able to send me pictures of what they received: my shipping box, with some crumpled up packing paper and no phone.
I was able to show them my FedEx receipt, which showed the weight of my package at over 1 pound. The box they received weighed much less than pound.
Obviously, someone in the shipping process had opened my package and stolen the phone.
The company Samsung uses to handle trade-ins was pretty easy to work with on this. They acknowledged that my phone had obviously been stolen in the shipping process, and said it's a problem they encounter a lot. They ultimately did give me the full value for my trade-in.
Ever since that time, I take several precautions. One, I use a ton of packing tape on the box, not just one or two pieces. Two, I take photos and videos of me putting the phone into the box and taping it up. Three, I make sure I save the shipping receipt showing the weight of the package I mailed.

Most of the issues lately are FedEx themselves. Some Fedex shipping centers know what boxes have trade-in phones and steal them.
Just keep video proof you factory reset properly, show proof of the phone working and uncracked, factory reset during the video, and include your shipping receipt in the video. Then save that video in case you have issues.
Then drop your box off at a Fedex store directly so you get a receipt with shipping weight attached (proving there is a phone inside).
I've heard Samsung is fairly reasonable to work with when you do have issues. The only issue I've had is a headphone trade-in credit they rejected and I chatted with them, they filed the support ticket, and 2 days later they accepted the credit, but the trade-in was only $50.

At this very second, Perkspot + S24U trade-in + S25U 512GB is $379.99. If the $50 reservation credit comes in and Samsung math is utilized, hopefully, it goes to $329.99. But we should never forget that Samsung discount stacking math is 5-4=2.
