Just skip doing any in-store upgrades if you live in SoCal, unless you're adding a line or doing an initial upgrade. I've experienced similar things during my visits in other locations around me.

Save time and aggravation by upgrading online already. All the gas/time wasted driving around just adds up. I'm done with the stores and just upgraded my s25 to s25+ online to save the headache and all games the agents play.

I don't believe they get commissions for upgrading, only just opening new lines. Therefore, they're not incentivized to deplete their inventory for upgrades when you already have any s25 model. I think most, if not all, SoCal stores are rationing their supposed "limited inventory" of phones exclusively for potentially new customers opening new lines, or only the initial upgrade on a line. Most agents will look and dig into your account history, before letting you know if they "have" any phones in stock. If you add a new line, they'll magically have it in-stock, but if you're upgrading, SOL they don't have anything.

Had an agent say they even had to order their upgrade online for their own personal phone. They did offer to order it online and have it shipped though, but you'd still have to do the Assurant mail-in process.
This has to be a memo they sent out to all stores. When I first went to trade, and asked if they had any, they tried to play like they didn't think they had any stock. Once I went a certain route with it, verbally, then they all a sudden knew they had stock.

I think they are trying to crack down in store, and online. They are obviously losing money from people trading in S25s.

Yep unless you add a new line, the answer will be no inventory.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank OnePlus7pro

Why don't you guys test this out by just going in and saying you want a new line only if they have whatever phone you want in stock? When the phone comes out from the back then you just changed your mind and pull that S25 out for the trade in?

The people who bought recently will probably lose out on that, either way, as they can tell you it would be processed as a restock. They give you a 14 day window for that.

I figure if they don't want to do it, and have lied thus far to deny people, they will keep coming up with reasons not to do it.

Bothers me that they just make up shit to justify whatever they want.

If they want certain outcomes, they need to modify what can be traded in from the top. Online and in store. Otherwise carry out the trade in per the terms you've laid out online

I don't plan on robbing them blind. But now they ticked me off enough that I almost want to lol

But overall, even with the caveats, still good deal. The trading in repeatedly was not exactly in the spirit of what they want with the promo or the upgrade policy

If you're opening new line and going all the way even up to S25 ultra in one trade in, so moto g play for 710 trade in value against new flagship, it's a mad discount I'd take. Two months of service not bad either. But they need to let at least that happen and not lie about that either and say your trade in needs to be unlocked or something or the other

And as a restock meaning 50 dollar fee on top? Still not too bad

So once I pay full price the trade off value will be posted in my account all in once or in 36 months?

The stores I've been to are so lame. More workers than customers. The few customers that do stop in are just returning cable boxes or exchanging remote controls. These guys aren't missing out on any customers at all they are just lazy aholes

Write review on Google Maps about that particular store if you feel they're unprofessional or not following the terms. I did

I hadn't had bad experiences over the course of 8 trade ins over two years until last weekend

The all online system, when working (both the system and the worker lol), means you can walk in and trade in and walk out in as little as 10 minutes.

It's a little like the DMV but can be worse because no terms or laws governing the place and no recourse really. Even more power tripping lol

I did both mot to s25 and s25 to s25+ online, final cost is $125.
799 (8% tax) - 705(I used a much older mot g power and worth $5) = -158
999. (8% tax) - 1113 (s25) = 33, so my net out of pocket is 125.

Thought of going to store do another round upgrade over the weekend, after reading all the posts, maybe I can skip the idea

Getting "Server Error" when trying to do online upgrades and "add a new line" for the last couple days. Not sure why.

WinkWinkBe careful with the card you use to get refund, I randomly grabbed a card that only pay 1% in points when I placed order, and refund was credited to my card on file which is 5% in points with spectrum, now am in negative -3500 points. LOL
