Awesome price. I have the "Breeze" & have gotten a lot of use out of it. Using Fairlife milk & protein powder, as a base, makes for fantastic protein ice cream. My wife loves it with chocolate protein powder, pero, cocoa powder, low whipped cream, & a little graham or biscoff crumbled on top. I'm a big fan of using vanilla protein powder, cheesecake pudding mix, some low cream cheese, & graham.

This is what I use, as a base, if anyone is interested:

Base (365-385 calories, 65-67g protein):
1 cup Fairlife skim (80, 13)
1/2 cup almond milk (15, <1)
2 tsp PB fit (25, 4)
1 tsp sugar-free pudding mix (5?, 0)
2 scoops protein powder (240/260, 48/50)

If anybody is hesitant because it's refurbished, I bought a refurbished one last time this deal was up, arrived basically looking brand new. No issues with it.

I am a big fan of full fat and full sugar ice cream, and I've heard the cream is much better for lower fat/sugar free alternative types of ice cream than traditional ones…

Does anyone use this to make full fat/sugar ice cream? I've heard the texture isn't as good but maybe it might not bother me that much.

Wondering if I should go the traditional ice cream maker with a compressor route

Choice is yours. We love the convenience of having individualizable portions in 2 minutes (that's taking it out of the freezer and putting the jar into the Creami - not counting the pre-freezing time).
We do everything from full fat, full sugar to no sugar sherbet. The trick is to get the temperature right. When we take them out of the freezer, it's too hard. So, what worked for us is to move it to the fridge for about a hour. However, when that's not feasible, letting it sit at room temp after spinning for a little bit also helps. May need to respin, but we never do.

Remember, ice cream isn't supposed to be served too cold. Your tongue loses its ability to taste when it gets too cold.

I wanted to share that after reading various forums, some buyers have reported receiving 2 XL pints (24oz) and 1 pre-installed pint. This means that with these purchases, you get a total of 3 pints.

The one sold at Costco comes with 3 containers. $179.99. Very tempting to buy this refurbished one.
especially since Amazon sells the containers for about $4 each

Oh I see; is this the same as the Costco one otherwise? Had read there are slightly different models, in areas such as cup size
The Creami Deluxe has 24oz containers, the regular Creami has 16oz containers. The deluxe also has the ability to spin just the top half of the container, along with a few additional modes.
This is the Deluxe version, and I would say if you're happy with refurbished then this is an excellent deal.

freeze overnight? is that the only way this thing works? I expected a chiller for this price. Does it just blend the frozen mix?
Yes, you have to freeze the container. It's a Pacojet but at a much cheaper price.

Only a 90 day warranty on this refurbised unit. I bought the one from Costco for full price. My blade broke off the plastic lid and the motor just kept spinning with a burning plastic smell. Ninja sent me a brand new model which now has the blade attached by a magnet so it doesn't break. Unless this refurbished is the newer model, I'd rather get the one from Costco with the Lifetime warranty or have Ninja replace the refurbished one with the newer model before the 90 day warranty expires.

LOL the ice cream makers with compressors are generally $250+ for quality ones like Whynter

Yes, unless you want to spend $300+ (whatever the MSRP is going to be) on the Ninja Swirl. The included recipe for vanilla comes out much like soft serve for me.
Will look into the ninja swirl. Thanks!

Bought one during the last time these were on woot in November. My unit won't turn on unless you unplug it and plug it back in. There is a big Reddit thread about a lot of brand new machines doing this and people returning them, only to get another new unit that does the same thing. A lot of these refurbs might be units with this issue like mine was.

I got this the last time. No damage yet, I have made more than 30 pins. Found the right mix and how to avoid getting this thing damage. But you are right, horror stories about how this thing breaks so easily. If i ever buy it again would not buy refurbished. Rather spend the extra money and buy it from costco. Ninja seems pretty good aswell on their warranty sending brand new unit to peoe when it breaks.

I had one of these for a few months, then ended up returning it (Costco). It's a really nice machine and it produces great ice cream, including low fat and sorbet. I've used it to make high-protein/low-fat ice cream using fairlife protein shakes and it worked well. The reasons I returned it were that the ice cream made with it had to be re-blended after every re-freeze. So unless you eat a pint in one sitting, every time you want to have some more of that ice cream, especially if it's low-fat, you have to use the machine again, and blending it once was never enough, it usually took 2-4 passes, with adding a splash of milk in between to soften it up, otherwise it was almost sand-like in texture.

The machine is extremely loud - almost comically loud. Basically like a power drill. There are also parts that are impossible to clean, such as the shaft that pushes the blade all the way into the ice cream pint. At least on the model I had, there was no way to remove it to clean it up and there are many complaints online from people who worry about the same thing - build-up of ice cream leftovers inside the machine that you can never clean.

If you can live with these drawbacks, as I mentioned, it is an excellent machine that can help you make premium-quality ice cream and sorbet at home.

We have had the original one since release. Used it maybe 5 times. Guess if you are into this sort of thing it might be good, but for the average person, it's not an ice cream maker at all.

Best use we get out of it is the mix in…adding store bought ice cream to the pint then putting our own mix in and have the "ice cream maker" blend it.

We don't use any protein, or unique milk, or whatever.

Just note, for anyone unsure, you create your own concoction, freeze it, then let this machine blend it.

And have some others have noted, ours does take multiple spins to get it at a decent consistency.

It's also more expensive to buy whatever you need to create your own ice cream compared to getting it from the store. Of course if you desire your own ingredients, then that doesn't matter to you.

This is easily our least used appliance that takes up the most space.

It encourages you to use whole milk for the ice cream and the consistency depends on how frozen it is. My deep freezer though is drastically colder than my fridge freezer so it's the difference between "great soft serve" and "gotta let it thaw a bit before trying to mix it" soft serve. I think personally the biggest issue I'm running into is finding the right vanilla flavor profile. I've tried a few from the store and just can't get that vanilla I'm used to. I may try vanilla bean next time.

Chocolate? Truly can't mess it up.

With all that typed though....it's much easier to just get ice cream from the store as many times we forget we have some premade ones in the deep freezer and boom - we now have a carton from the store.
