I was going to go with this deal and got to the end but have a question. Am I locked in for 36 months even if I buy the phone outright after my trade in?

no, it's unlocked usually in 60 days, instead of EIP, select the full payment option when you purchase, and chat with customer care after 60 days to get it unlocked.

Thank you, I'm chatting with someone now and they just copy/pasted the terms. So what you're saying is I select the full payment option, Spectrum will credit my card the $950 for my trade in, and after 60 days I can unlock the phone and change carriers if I want to?

Go bestbuy route if you trading the S24U for 25U. Spectrum are best with cheap phone for trade in to get the $700 promo. You will get more if you just sell for S24U locally....

PSA: the phone will be carrier-unlocked, but, this being Samsung, it will have Spectrum-specific firmware (CSC) - CHA type for those who know. This is different from the factory-unlocked CSC (XAA type). Most of the time it is not an issue, but - in my case with s24 - I discovered that visual voicemail would not work with Google Fi. So, caveat emptor!

Once carrier unlocked, can't you flash to XAA?

Buy the phone outright by paying full amount plus taxes . Send trade in . Wait few weeks for trade in to get accepted and funds deposited/credited to spectrum account. Message/ call billing and they refund to credit card back. Use phone for 61 days on spectrum and call customer service to unlock . Only catch if u missed any steps if will be pure pain to keep calling ask for resolutions. Also you need to be a spectrum internet customer and a free mobile line or get the cheapest unlimited or 1 gb plan for the 61 days .
