I have over 1200 hours on D3 over the years, and about 100 on D4. Something about D4 just don't feel right to me, it's simply not very fun. For the money I'd play PoE2 instead (Currently on Beta for $30 and $0 once the game is officially released). When in doubt there's always Grim Dawn.
Paid $40 for the expansion alone, good price here. Was also thinking this for the Steam Deck but is there any legal way to play this (or any Diablo) offline?

D4 requires you to be online, unfortunately. I think only Diablo 2 and 3 allow you to have offline profiles/modes.
I recommend buying the bundle......Season 7 just started. Just letting you know without the expansion. You'll be missing a new class, 2 activities and 1 skill point and 4 paragon points. You also miss out on your crafted guaranteed mythic of choice as that is now locked behind expansion, you can barely follow any build to completion as you need mythic piece(s) and gems/socketable behind expansion.
Warning: Only one year, this game has already started repeating the seasons( Season 7, everything same as season 1 + 2, expect they changed the themes for the items)

Similar thoughts here. Played D3 since release, had trouble getting through Inferno difficulty before it was replaced with Torment, earned $25 from the auction house from one set of bracers. Played a bit more of D3 throughout the years but got sucked back in playing S27 with my girl. Running rifts were a blast and D3 turned into a fun "arcadey" ARPG by that point which was a nice recovery by Blizzard after many hoped they improved from D2 on release.
We played through D4's campaign once, tried an hour or two of S2 and haven't played again since. She convinced me to start POE2 beta and we're looking forward to playing when we have time. Could be recency bias and there's time to improve both games, but it was funny seeing D4's stream viewership dipping below 400 while POE2 was in the hundred thousands. It's now around half of POE2's with the recent season, though. Would recommend checking out streams of both games first.

I also played a lot of D3 on Xbox and it was fun playing with the same group with D4. I'm excited to play the DLC. I have to play POE1 before I try POE2.
FWIW, I had an absolute ton of hours into D3 (and 1 and 2), and couldn't get into D4 when it came out. However, they did a "loot reborn" update sometime last year that honestly made the game a lot more fun. The campaign is still pretty boring, but you can whip through it in no time now, or I believe you can just skip it if you've already completed it once. Getting to the mid/end game and farming all the event things is the equivalent of the rifts from D3, and they're pretty fun.
The expansion is okay, it adds a new chunk of the world and some new runes and a class and stuff. It's pretty much required to buy it, which is unfortunate since it doesn't add that much new content and is relatively expensive, but that's MMO/ARPGs for you.

Edit: Are you talking about the current season or past experience?
