The perspective in their pic with no background might be misleading. It looks like it's about 5" x 7". A pic showing a guy holding it is attached. And below is a link to a video unboxing / review (The guy doesn't seem very technical so it's not an in-depth review of the features, but it's a decent overview.)

Although expensive, and i need at least 3 external ones + probably a homebase, (but refuse to pay for any subscription) I will one day probably buy 2K or greater Eufy cameras that match my doorbell. I'm sick and tired of needing to install a separate app for every single piece of hardware.

Don't think so, it asks you to connect to your home wifi.

No. A couple people have confirmed that this model does not.

With their light bulb camera I was able to contact support and they sent me a firmware update that would help support RTSP. I wonder if that option is available for this.
I've got to remember to set up RTSP for the lightbulb cam [amazon.com] as well—it would be great. I'm pretty impressed with it overall; it's been rock solid, and the picture quality is decent. It even has human AI detection. Not a bad deal for the $20 I paid for it around two years ago. I believe you can get the lightbulb cam even cheaper now, as I've seen deals posted for around $15 a few months back.

As for RTSP streaming on the solar cam, I don't think any battery-powered camera would support that, as it would be an incredible drain on the battery. However, you can stream briefly via Alexa devices like Echo Shows and Firesticks.

Overall, LaView cams have been surprisingly solid for me despite their low price and the brand being relatively unknown. I also have the M1 Base Station [amazon.com] camera set, which I paid $50 for, and it's been pretty good as well.

The only issue is that I can no longer adjust camera setting in the app. Each camera's settings page loads briefly and then closes. Fortunately, I had the settings exactly how I wanted them before this issue appeared, but I really should stop being lazy and contact LaView's customer service about the problem...

In theory, you can use a smartphone as a mobile hotspot and connect the camera to its Wi-Fi. I haven't tried this myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

You might even consider getting a cheap Tracfone that comes with a few GB of free Wi-Fi data. I can picture placing the Tracfone in a waterproof case and setting it up as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot near one of these solar cameras. This setup could enable placement in a variety of locations where Wi-Fi and power aren't available. Of course, you'd also need a way to solar-power the smartphone as well...

This camera costs $25, but it's not worth it. The motion detection is only effective at close range and cannot be adjusted. Although it claims to be 2K resolution, the video quality is actually worse than Blink's first-generation camera. Additionally, the focus is set for close objects, making it difficult to capture a wide view. The mount that comes with the camera offers very limited angles. In total, I spent $28 on the camera, $7 on an SD card, and $13 on a separate mount, when I could have just purchased an Arlo. I blame Sickdeals.

Oh, I forgot that it doesn't pick up wifi as easily as Blink and Eufy. I keep getting an out-of-range error message and delayed response.

I also forgot that the only way you can turn off the camera is with a switch in the back. There is no private mode like there is with the bulb camera. So that means you have to see your ugly mug every time you adjust it and drain the battery.

The features are extremely limited.

Maybe a stupid question… Can I set it up on a home wifi and put in a memory card. Then take it out of wifi range and have it record on a card? When I need a playback I would take it down and review the card.

Holy crap, the audio on this thing horrible. It is worse than Eufy's s220. All you hear is wind and static.

I bought the two pack with the hub that allows for local storage on an sd card. Anyone know if this will hook up to the same hub? The two pack with hub works great and the batteries last a good 6 months before recharge. Anyways, anyone know if it can use the LaView hub?

Any idea if this solar powered camera connects to the LaView hub?
